Cingular V3i Tethering Question??

I went to my local store today, told them I was wanting to use my phone as a modem for my laptop for business trips only once maybe twice a month when I go out of town. They sold my the Motorola Phone Tools package with the USB cord and everything as well as the PDA Connect Plan. I am home now, installed it, and everything works great....BUT

I am using a Motorola V3i in a 3g network and as far as I know I should be using that network. When I am connected to the internet via my V3i I am connected around 230 k. Should I be getting more? It says I am connected via GPRS? Is there a way to connect around 1MB.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts on how to increase my internet transfer speed through my phone

Thanks

The v3i isn't 3g. It's also not an edge phone, so you are connecting very slowly.

I would return the crap they made you buy. If you still want to use the internet through this phone you can buy yourself a cheap bluetooth adaptor and connect without the software and cable and i'm sure that stuff wasn't cheap at the cingular store anyways.
