The Ever Breaking Screen (V3i Razr)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've replaced the front screen on my V3i, 3 different times. I'm at the point of just leaving it broken, it's making me so mad.... I bought a pack of three covers at radio shack that are obviiously for the v3, but fit my v3i (the screen's just a bit obscured). I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on A. why the replacements seem to break so much easier (maybe the oem glass was thicker?) to break, and B. point me toward a durable cover.

I have a clear plastic casing that also covers the front lcd.

where did you get it, and what does it look like?

The replacements break becuase they are a thinner, lower quality glass. The only way to fix it correctly is to have a service center use original Motorola parts.

I have a clear plastic shell on my V3i.It just snaps on and covers the entire flip(encluding screen)while preserving the sleekness of the phone.Got mine off eBay for less than $6.00 including shipping.Well worth the money.I've seen them in the mall but those kiosks want twice as much.

thanks. I just bought this one in conjunction with new glass (supposedly OEM). Hope it works

That's exactly what mine looks like.

great! I'm glad to know you're happy with it.

Off topic a bit, I see you have a v3i with Tmobile. I freakin LOVE the 5.99 Web plan. I was going to buy an MDA, but I found that I can tether my laptop and have internet pretty much any place i can get a signal... *coughWORKcough* Now if I could find a way not to lose my BT adapter....

Damn. You gotta be pretty rough on your phone. I've replaced maybe 15 of them since the company I worked for starting selling RAZRs, but never two for the same person. For comparison, I've looked at / worked on many thousands of RAZRs in the past 15 months.

Nope. Can't sell them without installation so I stand to make ZERO. No need for bias. We curently process up to 1000 RAZRs per month through national distribution repair contracts. The non OEM lenses are more fragile.

I am! It's attached to me... and I to it! It's not only my phone, it's my text messenger, my YIM messenger, my mobile modem for my laptop, my sneaky camera, alarm clock, date book, phone book, contact database, my mobile chess player, and Gmail checker.

One time i actually rolled over and slept on it. Maybe I should have it surgically
implanted...

But you can purchase OEM parts via the internet... so taking it to a dealer isn't the only option. Frankly, that'd be my last option.
