After several months of ownership - and I don't even know how many hours of hacking and fine tuning my Blackjack - It has to be replaced under warranty due to a defective mic. That said... Is there any way to do a complete backup of the phone with the defect, and restore to the new one? Needless to say - between network settings, registry tweaks, installed programs and everything else we all love to do - I am anticipating this being a major pain in the ***. Any help would be appreciated.

You could be recreating the same problem with your new phone - just a thought.

I would list what you need, or feel that you need, on your phone in the way of apps/mods/hacks and then list them in order when each should be done.
If you don't really use it/need it - don't install it.
Remember to reboot after each install/mod/hack before you do another.
Yes, it's a pain but in the long run you could be avoiding your problem(s).

Good Luck.

If all your problem was a defective microphone, I wouldn't hesitate doing a full restore from Sprite. I've done it twice with a Black Jack with good results. I read a tip recently that after doing it the first time, run the backup/restore a second time and it can alleviate some of the little bugs that can come up with a full restore. If it doesn't work to your statisfaction, you can always hard reset and start again or do it the way phoneuser described.
