New Razr V3m

My Razr V3m (less than 30 days old) will not read the SD card. If I put the SD card in my computer with the adapter, my computer will see it, and I added two pictures. However, when I put the card in my phone, I followed the directions in the manual and cannot move pictures from the phone camera memory to the SD disc (it's like it's not there). I only want to SD disc for storing and moving pictures to and from phone to computer but just to give more info, when I press the music icon on my phone I get Error M505, "unable to read memory card." Also, in case it matters, I don't have internet service. This is on Sprint service. I'm using the SD card that came with the phone. The sales person in the store couldn't get the phone to see the card either. I talked to a tech person at Sprint. She wasn't any help.
No one said anything about formating the SD disc and I don't see any instructions about that in the manual but I've seen threads on this forum about formating. I was told I could exchange the phone but none of the stores in the area have any red Razrs in. To call the main office and get one shipped, I would have to pay for a new phone, extend the contract a month, and then ship back the phone I have now. Before I go to all that trouble and risk them botching things and sticking me on two plans or something, I'd like to make sure there isn't some way I can get the card to work in this phone.
I'm wondering I'm I supposed to format the SD card? If so, how? I don't see any instructions in the manual. Or is the SD card only for music? If so, the manual instructions are wrong because they clearly give instructions on how to get pictures on the SD card but it's not working.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm at my wit's end and my 30 days on this phone run out Sat., 03-10-07.

I took the card out and used compressed air where it's inserted. Took it out and reinstalled it three times and that didn't help. I doubled checked the manual. No instructions on formating the disc. By the way, some people say there's supposed to be folders in the disc when you view it on the computer. No folders on my disc when I view it on the computer. I'm pretty frustrated with the whole thing.
Just had to vent I guess. Thanks.

Make sure you have the SD card pushed in all the way. It will not be flush at the top with the battery opening. I just got the same phone and got the same message you did (cannot read card) and I had to push the card down further into the slot. Hope that helps!
