Does the Blackjack have caller groups?

My daughter is interested in the Blackjack mainly for the full keyboard. When she was looking at the phone in the store she forgot to ask about caller groups. Can she set up a different ring tone for each person on her sim, or does everyone have to have the same ringtone? Usually she has a set ringtone for each friends, but she could handle putting a few together in caller groups if individual ringtones won't work.

There didn't seem to be an obvious way to set this up so if you could share how it can be done I would appreciate it.

With Smartphone operating system you can set a different ringtone for every person in the Contacts list, even use an .mp3 file as a ringtone, I do that. My wife's ringtone is an old-time cash register ringing sound repeated 8 times (yeah she shops a lot).

She'll want to copy her contacts from her SIM into her phone so that she can have all of the fields available to her in the Smartphone operating system on the Blackjack.

And how do you cop all of your sim contacts to your phone all at once?

When I had my Nokia I had purchased their data package and data cable. That application put them into a contacts program within their application on my PC. From there I exported them out and put them into a spreadsheet and manipulated the data to get it into the format I needed to import into Outlook.

As far as I know I don't think you can copy all of the contacts from your SIM card to the Blackjack all at one time by using the phone. I remember that there is a third party app that you can buy to do that for you but I don't remember what it was...you can Google for it.

So you have to copy the sim contacts one at a time? I assume the contacts will then be saved to the phone itself and the sim; am I correct?

Nope, you will have duplicates, one on the phone and another on the sim, you then have to delete the sim contact unless thereis a way not to show sim contacts.

The phone book feature is the biggest dissappointment I've had with the blackjack:|

My daughter is enjoying her blackjack but she has to swap it out this week. Her talk button key gets stuck and doesn't always work. She spent a good bit of time transferring her numbers over to the phone so that she could assignment ringtones to different caller groups.

Now when she gets the new phone she will have to move the numbers again! Can someone tell me if there is a way to save the numbers (and ringtones if possible) to her computer and them transfer them to the new phone? I know I can do this when I sync my palm to my computer, but I didn't know if this would work the same way with
a smartphone. She is not using the phone as a pda at this time, mostly she uses it for texting and email.

The Blackjack (as all WM5 phones) can use Categories for contacts to group them together. You can even set the Categories in Outlook contacts, and they are sync'd via ActiveSync. However, you would need a separate utility to set ringtones y that category. There was a utility to do so for PocketPC versions of Windows Mobile. I am not sure if there is such an app for Smartphones. (I would think there is). Still its not as easy as setting as it was with say a Razr. But then again, a Razr can't do many other things a WM5 phone can...
