Hey, im pretty new to cell phone technology and have a question. I know that you can use your cellphone as a modem. I jus got an LG CU500 and getting a bluetooth dongle so i can use it as a modem but I was wondering if it is free or is a data service plan required? thanks.

You will need an data plan unless you want to pay 1 cent per Kb, which equals a whole lot of $$$ when you use your phone as a modem.

is the mediaNET their data plan? if i sign up for the unlimited mediaNET for 20 dollars a month, i can use my phone as a modem?

technically yes you can use it, are you supposed to? no. Cingular can cancel your account if they find out your tethering (i seem to remember reading this on HoFo somewhere) moderate use is okay but constanstly being on it might start hurting you
