transfer all of V3 to V3T possible?

I'm contemplating in buying Motorola V3T. I currently own the original V3 with lots of purchased games, wallpapers and ringtones. Stuff that are basically can't be backed up using MPT.

I've spent so much $$ for the games and such, so is there a way for me to transfer all games, ringtones, wallpapers, even settings to V3T?

I've tried search function but I can't seem to find the answer.

You can use P2K Tools or P2K Manager to get all of your wallpapers and ringtones out and transfer them to your V3t. As for the games, I haven't done this in a long while but you could use (I think) MotoMidMan or Jad Maker, I'm not sure but it can be done.

I apologize if I sound skeptical. But are you sure at least the purchased ringtones and wallpapers can be transferred over? On the V3 all of the purchased games, wallpapers and ringtones have a picture of padlock right next to them (DRM?) Also using MPT 4, I can't even see those wallpapers and ringtones either (I can only see the ones I created and/or uploaded myself, but none of the factory-preset and/or purchased ones).

I watch this thread with interest... hopefully the lock is only to your SIM so when u move... but I woulnd't trust the capitalists pigs either.

I tried backing up the V3 using MPT then "restore" to a V3t, it strangely works... but still the the purchased items weren't transferred over (yes, I've moved my SIM to the new phone, still to no avail )

Haven't tried the other programs though, too chicken to mess around with it.

Try MotoMidMan for java files--copy them to your hard drive, then see if they will upload to your new phone.

For the wallpapers and ringtones--you might be able to see them with P2K Commander, and if you can see them, you can copy them. The padlock appears next to them in the phone, but you can do a lot with P2K programs that you can't do on the phone itself. Make sure you look in both "a" and "c" directories for these files, if your phone has "c."

(There is a file attribute that, if checked, will hide pictures from the phone's menus. They will still be visible in P2K Commander.)

K - Try this... Use P2K Commander and highlight the ringtone(s) and press F2. An attributes window will pop-up and you will see that "Do not copy" is clicked. Obviously un-click this and press OK. Now you can transfer that file or files over to your comp. Do not forget to "Restart".

Just a FYI, since it comes up from time to time.

MPT Motorola Phone Tools is "consumer grade" software. It may (and does) restrict you from certain sections of the file system.

The P2K Programs on the other hand (and offical Motorola Service Center software).... are "Service Level" grade software... which access the files on a very low level (I.E Everything)

Keeping the above in mind, If you're wanting to access the system on a service grade level. For that you need a cable, a direct connection to your PC.

"Bluetooth" is NOT a option with anything other than "consumer grade" software....

Just thought I'd mention that... as people will post... I've being trying for 3 days.... multiple posts going back and forth it finally coming to light that they are trying to do something via bluetooth, instead of a cable.

Another "tip": Make sure to have a FULLY charged battery... That may save you some "grief" later on...

One more "tip" please when posting... Instead of posting I have a V3T for example.... Post I have a V3T_R479_ROGERS_CANADA or V3T_R479_G_08.B5.3DR_ROGERS_CANADA

Why? Because there is another V3T... the T-Mobile V3T R3443U5 series.

PLEASE post that little tidbit in the BODY of your post, instead of your "sig" as it ties the suggestions to a fix to that id string.

Press *#9999# from the handset itself while powered up.. to get your phones info.

You can also while powering the phone UP, press and HOLD the * and # keys while hitting the POWER key... that will put you into bootloader mode.

WRITE that info down, make a cut and paste file with the info, and put that ifon on the body of posts when asking for info.... helps other help YOU, plus it being in the BODY of the post helps "search" engines find info later.

okie, the more I read the more confused I become. Is there a phone store that offers this kind of service?

Most do not.

Keep in mind your "provider" would like to sell you those games AGAIN.

My advice would be to READ some GUIDES on doing whatever you want to do BEFORE attempting to do so.

Go here, there is a section on the V3T, there are also some pretty good "GUIDES" in the GUIDE section.

Tell Poetic_Folly I sent you.
