8525, WM5 Any way to mark a message as read when you hit 'dismiss'?

After a wonderful experience with the palm threaded sms app, I realized what I miss the most: the ability to mark a message as read when you hit dismiss on the today screen. Its an annoyance to see a new message notification when I've already seen the contents of a message.

Is there a registry edit that can be done to avoid going into outlook to clear up messages?

When a new SMS comes in, A Registry entry is changed.
It looks at

HKCU\System\State\SMS\Unread

And Adds 1 to it. So for e.g: If you have 0 it would be 1 and if you had 5 it would be 6.
