Is there a Media Player, Today Plugin? So I don't have to switch back and forth and can control basic mp3 play controls from the today screen?

Whats the best Program for changing Themes and colors within a theme?

Thanks

Are you sure? I can't find that anywhere, not even on Handango and Spb's website.

Posted by: petard

i think it is "spb to play"

Posted by: cjmedina

your right i always get those mixed up, none the less there is the cab

Posted by: irockash

Let me know if it works... i've tried installing it plenty-a-time and it just doesn't show up... not even in the today screen settings... no where.

Posted by: slavetolustnyc

I'm weary about that prog "spb to play" as its not made by spb. I did find another prog called PocketMusic and it works great. Lots of options and has a streamlined version for the Today Screen. Very smooth operation.

Posted by: dickstarbuck

it does not show up when i open the cab on the phone either. i tried on the device and on the card, no luck. Any ideas cj... thanks a lot for the link by the way.

Posted by: slavetolustnyc

Try a prog called PocketMusic, works great from the Today Screen.

Posted by: dickstarbuck

I already have wmp and tcpmp on my 8525 and don't really want a third player on my device unless it's necessary. the spbtoplay sounds like the way to go unless ya'll have any other suggestions. I use wmp for my mp3's and tcpmp for sirius.

btw that was my first post from my phone, I love this thing.

Posted by: cjmedina

it works fine you have to install it on your device, not card. then go into your settings and enable on your home screen
here see mine

Posted by: dickstarbuck

sorry to be a pain in the *** but... it still does not work. I installed it to the device and looked in the settings/today/items screen--and it's not there. even searched phone for "spbtoplay" and all i can find is the cab file. it looks like nothing else is downloading when the cab opens. I even tried downloading it from one of the other sources on the link you gave, no luck.
**CJ what's that search looking plug in you've got at the bottom of you today screen?
thanks

Posted by: cjmedina

toady search plugin, shoot me your email and i will send it to you, there is another media player gsplayer thats has a today screen plugin, it lets you play shoutcast links(pls.) as well as wav mp3 ogg, it has a

Posted by: slavetolustnyc

Wow those today screens are cluddered. Sadly we can't remove Windows Media Player or at least not that I know of. Tcpmp is great for streaming Sirius, but PocketMusic isn't a large prog will do just want you it too and work effortlessly. If you can't find it, pm me. It'll be worth it. This Spb Player is not supported by Spb, so I'm not sure where it came from.

hey slave what does your today screen look like.
i've had the 8525 for about 3 months and so far i've got these programs added:

spb pocketplus
spb weather
spb diary
spb time
spb silver skins for all of the above
siriuswm5 - never could get it to work with wmp so i use tcpmp
fit4cat hermes tweaker
opera
mobitv -it SUCKS
pttfix
vibra switch
tcpmp - what's the difference in this and the core player
unfortunately i paid for the core player before i found the tcpmp
while downloading the siriuswm5, What's the difference? is tcpmp a stripped down version since it's free?

I've only had the 8525 for less than a month. I'm trying to take a screen shot, if you know of one, please let me know and I'll post it. I'm not sure of the difference between the tcpmp prog as I got the one that came with Sirius, which works great. But when I used tcpmp to play mp3's and would go back to the today screen, my music would get choppy and sometimes freeze up the whole system. As for paying for the full core player, if you look hard enough you can find all the prog's you need for free including the PocketMusic prog that will work flawlessly with the Today Screen.

Have you guys tried SPB Mobile Shell? I just installed it and it's great! I had my doubts about this phone, but now I love it.

Posted by: dickstarbuck

I've been researching this gsplayer and it seems sweet except for the atari looking interface. All the reviews say there are some bugs, but those posts are from a year ago. Anybody besides CJ got any input?
Thanks CJ for your help.

Posted by: dickstarbuck

I'm afraid to spend money on shell because of all of the so so reviews. the idea sounds good and looks pretty good, except i'm not to sure about all those extra menu/steps, the now screen sounds cool though.

I haven't experienced anything negative with it yet. It has an elegant look to it, especially once you change the them color. Mine is grayish black, which compliments the color of the phone. Don't they have a trial version?

Posted by: dickstarbuck

this might sound stupid but the trial(3 days) is just long enough for me to start liking the app, but not long enough to find out the things i don't like. 30$ is steep for something i find out i hate after 3 and 1/2 days. i like my today screen like it is for now. I will add the mediaplayer plugin when i find one i like.... and maybe a google search bar... and maybe a photodialer.

soooo many options sooo little room

Posted by: slavetolustnyc

I have a free full version of shell and tried it out. I think Pocket plus is much better and using both seemed like overkill in many areas. I can see how shell would be useful to some, just didn't need it.

Posted by: slavetolustnyc

Here are my long awaited screen shots.
From the top:
Battery Meter above Screen
Date/Time in Taskbar
Date
PocketMusic
Email Inbox
SMS Inbox
Calendar
Pocket Plus; Tabs from Left to Right as shown in Pictures are;
Apps, Documents, Games, Meters

All very simple, easy to read and everything that I need to make work/play much easier for me.

Posted by: dickstarbuck

here's the deal with the wmp today plugin. It is called "spb toplay"... not "spbtoplay", this is an improtant distinction as this search WILL take you to the spb site where the plugin is found under plugins for pocketplus. Unfortunately, there seems to be some compatibility issues with some(but not all) WM5 devices. Search the forums (spbclub) to learn more; but the developers don't know what the bug is yet. Their answer seems to be "wait for the next version" which hopefully, with a little encouragement from us, will be very soon.

Posted by: dickstarbuck

by the way i tried pocket shell and thought it had some bright points. The now screen was cool , but all the spb menus were way too much. maybe they willl come up with a stripped down version with just the now screen; or just add now to the next pocketplus.
