Waking up the LCD on 8525 when there incoming calls or text or email?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

When my 8525 goes to sleep and there a incoming calls or text or emails it doesn't wake the LCD up or light up the LCD so I have to press the power button to light it up.

Is there a setting to force it to wake up the LCD each time there a notification of any type?

I tried searching for the answer but had no luck

Thanks
Bill

I'm not sure what is wrong with yours. As far as I know I've never changed anything and my 8525 has always lit up on incoming texts and calls when it has been asleep. Maybe someone does know of a setting that might have been changed on yours.

My lights up as well. You might want to exchange it.

It will light up on incomming calls, or texts, but new emails don't turn it on.

I think my problem was that I found a setting "Turn off Device if not used for" and it was set to 2 min on battery power.

I just disabled that setting so now will see if that fixes the problem or not.

Disabling that "device turn off" seems to fix my issue and it now lighting up on incoming call or texts.

Your right it only lights up on incoming calls or text but doesn't light up on email or IMs but it virbates fine. Wonder if there a setting to light it up as well too.

I have been trying to get my devices to NOT light for text & phone calls. I store it in my pocket. I would be VERY grateful if you could successfully set your 8525 to not light and tell me how you did it!!!!

This shouldn't be possible.

Setting -> System -> Power -> (Advanced Tab on bottom)

On Battery power: (check in box) Turn off device if not used for

When device power down after x minutes you set it for, it still give notificiation on incoming ie ring/vibrate but you have to use power button to wake it up.

I noticed the difference between the backlight setting and turn off device setting.

When only backlight is turn off and you will barely make out that LCD is still powered on and stays on but with no backlight and any buttons will acitvate the backlight or incoming call/text but when the device is turn off and there will be no LCD display at all "completely black" and only power button will wake it up.

I have all 3 of my devices (including 8525) set to power off after 1 min. They all wake for incoming calls and texts.

I would be very interested to find out why yours behaves this way. Maybe a reg setting? I've searched but was unable to find one. Do you have any apps that might effect the notification?

You are right.

I did some more testing and fiddling with the device and it does wake it up from power off but only calls/texts which I probably didn't notice before becasue I get more Instant message and emails which doesn't wake it up at all so I probably just thought it don't wake up for any incomings.

Looks like only calls or texts will wake it up but nothing else however it does vibrates/ring fines when there are IMs or Emails and you would think it at least should wake up the LCD as well too. Maybe somewhere in registery is a setting to wake up the LCD on other notifications.

Going to research on it some more.

Phone Alarm which gives you more control of your notifications such as wake on email. According to the programmers there, the phone notifications (call & text) are device specific.
