If I buy a HTC Dash from T-Mobile and they give me the unlock code
(which they said they would), would I be able to use it just like that with FIDO in Canada, or would only the voice calls and sms be unlocked. Also with the wifi would I be able to use pocket msn If I downloaded it and use it with wifi?

if it is unlocked then it will work with fido like it would with any other fido phone. but you may need to change the mms settings, not sure...

I have an unlocked Dash on the Cingular network. But I couldn't stand all the T-Mobile crap on it so I flashed the s620 firmware on it.

BUT

Either way it will work fine one it's unlocked.

Today I went to this place that unlocks and sells unlocked phones, the guy said its not worth flashing a t-mobile dash (which I would buy for around $349 us, from the states) because it would bring the cost up to what a HTC S620 is which he said they sell for $600 CDN (about $515 US). He also said if you unlock the phone from t-mobile the internet wont work without flashing it.... What do you guys think

ramrod,

the guy is wrong. It costs 40 bucks to unlock and CID unlock the phone. At that point, flashing ANY firmware on it is free.

To get the internet to work, you simply put the settings in. I ran my Dash stock for a couple of months on Cingular before unlocking the CID.

Never trust the knowledge of salespeople. They will give you an answer whether it is correct or not.
