Does anyone know how to find out what specific bytes do?

If so, I might be able to remove all the glitches from my discovery , but still be able to keep the mysterious Info Services Menu, the ability to beam to other phones via Infared, and all the cool new alerts. Is there a table somewhere that has values (ex. bt_enable) or descriptions for every byte in the 2742 seem? I've seen something that has those for every seem, but I'm looking for one for bytes
