it's freezing, edge is not working and am getting ****** *** gprs instead when I'm not in 3G which is unacceptable since ai'm in new york. either edge or 3G is fine but when I can't even get edge and get gprs. it's frustrating. cingular reps say I should do a phone exchange as the sim was put in a raR maxx and all was fine. I love my 8525 and even with it's fault, I kinda don't wanna do an exchange unless as a last resort. help!

have you tried a hard reset on your phone?

Posted by: CPcrazyfly

your phone will either show a "G" when using GPRS/EDGE, and a "U" when using UMTS/HSDPA. You very well may be using EDGE even when the "G" is shown, there is no "E" without a hack...

have you tried forcing utms/hsdpa

Posted by: i880/8525junkie

No I have not forced it on Umts. how do I go about doing that?

Wirelessly posted (SAMSUNG-SGH-I607/I607FG1 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))

search for a cab file called bandswitch. it lets you choose the gsm or utms, also gives you a today plugin. or you can search for "show band" cab that lets you choose the band

I couldn't find it...

Yeah it's true...the TyTN only shows "G" even when on EDGE.

I think xda developers has something on there that will work, i think the one i had was like "shogun showUMTS"

got it. It would help to know. Although I 've been in a few 3G places in manhattan and in yankee stadium and I was not getting 3G at all. so while my fears have been a tad bit alleviated, I'm still concerned about the phone freezing and not getting 3G in manhattan when all of the island is 3G and blanketed in blue.
