Hello,

A friend of mine just picked up a 128 Mb Memory Stick Duo in Tokyo for me for about 11,500 yen (about USD 95). They told him they just received these 3 days ago.

I'll assume that is for the 64Mb version, which costs $70 on Sony's site. I doubt CDW (not known for deep discounts) would sell the 128Mb version for $8 more, especially when mainstream retailers usually don't try to compete against Sony's prices.

I saw that as well - I almost bought it, but then I read the description, which states that he will ship in early April, when he receives them. I've seen pre-orders as low as $115, but the real test is when each of these will actually be able to ship.

For $20 less, I'll have it early next week.

BTW, I only posted this to make sure people who might give in and buy the 64Mb version know they should be able to get the 128Mb within the next few weeks. Other than that, what's $20 when we've already spent so much on the P800?

A friend of mine went to Tokyo last week and went to all those cameras stores like Bic but couldn't find a single 128Mb Duo...or even 128Mb Magic Gate MS Duo...

Does the original poster's friend know which store they bought the duo from so I can get one brought back.

Hi,

The store in Tokyo is called Sofmap. Their website is www.sofmap.com. One of my co-workers emailed them in Japanese to find out if they delivered overseas - they don't.

Their telephone number is 03-3253-3399.

Yeah, they have Sofmaps all over the country -- as well as the other chains, like T-Zone (no relation), Bic P-Kan, and Llaox. They all don't deliver outside of Japan -- However, if we don't have them here, or readily available in a month or so, I'll be there, and I'll see if I can pick up a bunch for you Hofo'ers.

BTW, I'm also trying to get some guys who specialize in importing and selling Japan-only electronic products to get their hands on some of these. I'll keep you posted.
