BlackJack Warranty Replacement?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Has anyone been able to get a BlackJack for a warranty replacement? The warranty reps I keep speaking to say that the phone is "too new" for them to have it. Has anyone had better luck?

yes, I got one around 3 months ago no problem, next day shipping, so they are definitely jerking you around, do a search for the thread "killed my Blackjack" for more details on my experience with warranty replacement

Is there any difference to who you speak to if you try to go BlackJack to BlackJack or if you try to go Nokia (or other brand) to BlackJack?

Do you currently have a blackjack and need to replace it? If so, you will need to go through the pda warranty department. Just ask the regular xbm rep to transfer to them. If you do not have a blackjack and want to do a warranty exchange to one, it may not be possible. Remember that you have to have multiple exchanges for the original phone, and that they will exchange it for similar device of equal or greater value. The blackjack may not yet be available for this type of exchange. I could be wrong about it, so the only thing you can do is try calling if your phone is defective.

Both reps said it is "possible" to exchange a 6682 for a BlackJack, however, the phone is "too new" to be available from the warranty department. The first rep noted my account saying that I'm allowed to receive a BlackJack once they're in stock. I just wanted to know if I'm being jerked around and if I should ask to speak to a manager/etc.

Called again today, told again either a RAZR or a SLVR. Brought up the BlackJack and was told that they don't carry full kits yet. I asked to speak to a supervisor, who, was very rude, interrupted me on several occasions, and told me she was doing me a favor by replacing my $250 6682 with a ~$40 RAZR. After a few minutes of back and forth arguing (very unprofessional) I had enough and calmly hung up the phone.

I understand if they would offer me comparable such as a 3125 (hell I'd even take a 2125 and sell it), but a RAZR? Or a Samsung D407? Please. I cannot understand why they have nothing else in.

These warranty reps make it seem like I'm a bad person for asking for a different phone. For the fun of it, I asked her see if I could get a Treo. I figured if they'll give me a BlackJack, why not a Treo 680. At that point she got very defensive and said there was no way she would send me a "considerable upgrade." Ah well, I guess I'll keep calling back every week until either I get a rep who will accommodate me, or until they get a 3125 or BlackJack in.

I've been having a problem with my BlackJack recognizing the SIM card (periodically can't detect the SIM). I called the Cingular warranty department late Friday afternoon (3/23/07) and they put in the order for a warranty replacement. I received a FedEx 2-day shipping confirmation the next day (Saturday). Clearly phones are available for a "swap".

However, the rep did say the shipment would include only a bare phone (no SIM, Battery, Cables, etc). Perhaps the comment about full kits being available is a valid one....
