quick question about sync

I have a pearl and all my contacts are on my pc the way i want them to show on the phone.
Im getting the 8700. Do i need to do any configurations before i can sync?
or do i just do what i do with the pearl?

How do you sync your Pearl? I assume you use Desktop Manager and Outlook? If so, keep on keeping on.
