Blackjack display timeout keeps reseting ?!!?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have my Blackjack Display set to NEVER time out under power management - it stays on that setting for about 1/2 the day and then will randomly revert back to another setting like 5 minutes... I have it plugged in on my desk most of the time so I don't care about battery and I'd like it to stay on all the time....

Backlight time out on battery - set to NEVER
Backlight time out on AC - set to NEVER
Display Time out - set to NEVER

But then it just keeps reverting back !! Pissing me off... anyone have a similar issue or know where this value is in the registry so I can just change it permanently ?

THANKS !

LOL! My thought exactly....

I couldn't tell you why you are getting this issue; however by doing this and "not caring about the battery" you will have issues later when you possibly do care about it. If you are mobile after awhile of destroying your battery.. the life between full and dead will be nothing after the cells are killed by being charged all the time. you may have 2 batteries, but prepare yourself to being buying others at over 50 a crack for a OEM. just a thought.

#1 I thought batteries didn't have a memory effect that would destroy them??? Isn't the phone smart enough to stop charging even though it's connected to the charger? Wouldn't the battery just explode if this wasn't the case?

#2 The phone sits on a cradle in front of me - so I like to keep the screen on all the time so I can see when I have a new SMS or email etc...

Don't judge me !!

I'm not judging you, but not a common issue of a customer for not wanting the light nver to turn off.

Batteries (lith ion) dont have a memory and will go into trickle charge; however it will continue to charge when not necessary which will then removed a cycle life from it. All rechargable batteries have a cycle life such as 360 cycles... if you charge it every day for a year.. it wont hold a charge from that point on... i cant tell ya the cycle life; however it holds true for its life expectancy.

well then i guess it doesnt matter lol. Do you turn your phone off at all? If not, i'd consider doing that periodically... it tends to shy off any issues with the software..

FWIW, my problem was that the display backlight time out would automatically reset itself to 10 seconds. Could not figure out why it did that.

I got it working right by doing a hard reset and reloading everything from scratch. I figure one of the programs I was playing with messed things up. Never did figure out what I did to cause the problem originally.
