What is the purpose of the Desktop Redirector? Just curious.

Desktop Redirector was the first, original way of redirecting your e-mail to your wireless device. It predates both BES and BIS.
Desktop Redirector, which is only certified to work with MS Exchange mailboxes, offers another method of redirecting (forwarding) e-mail to a BB. It does not sync PIM data - it just forwards e-mail.
