This phone is a real exercise in patience. The phone says it's bluetooth compatible: "•Bluetooth Capable (v1.1) – supports headset, hands-free,* advanced audio distribution, serial port, dial-up networking, file transfer, audio/video remote control, object push profiles for vCard*" from lg's page, the same that is says for the cu500, which i know can send and receive ringtones. but the 8600 page also says "Phone does not support all Bluetooth OBEX profiles". What does this mean and does it explain why I can't bluetooth ringtones?

yes verizon disables OBEX transfers (like pics vid files and ringtones/music) only verizon cripples their phones

Alltel has the same issue..

Yeah, I have alltel. I checked lg's cite again, and the spot where I saw obex profiles not supported was under verizons 8600, not alltel's. It was a footnote under verizon's 8600 bluetooth, whereas alltel's 8600 makes no reference to obex whatsoever. Would it be an oversight, or is it possible a software update would allow the phone to BT? It isn't a large issue since it has the microsd slot, but it is a convenience I would have liked.

unfortunately if it is already disabled i highly doubt they would update to allow it. they get more money from u dl stuff from them

If it is disabled canit be enabled??

Posted by: krueskrewer

sorry let me re-word that. it is NOT enabled. and yes if it were disabled there should be a way to enable it. the problem is that noone has hacked all the software/firmware for these new phones so unless you put your own programming on the phone, the effort is futile
