Im thinking of getting an 02 branded XDA Trion....
Gsmarena.com says that the phone is capable of 3G but only at 384kbps. When comparing it to the HTC branded TyTn, i see that the TyTn is capable of HSDPA 1.8Mbps. My question is, if i flash the 02 XDA Trion with HTC TyTn firmware can i enable the full HSPDA speed? Does the 02 XDA Trion have 1900/850mhz 3G hardware on the board, or does it only have 2100mhz and thats why GSMarena reports that the phone is only capable of UMTS and not HSDPA?

Wirelessly posted (HTC-8500/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))
Is there a reason you need or want the O2? Could you get an 8525 or TYtN instead? That way there'd be no question you're getting HSDPA and 850/1900/2100...
Or there be other brands (Softbank, MDA Vario II, I-mate JasJam, etc...) that get you the features you want... video calling or what not...

I had a TYTN for a couple weeks (WM 5 with the TYTN ROM - Forget which one) and now have the Cingular 8525 version of the Hermes (WM 5 & Cingular shipped rom, radio 1.18 & WM 6 cooked rom, with radio 1.35).
I was using the T-Mo APN but roaming on the Rogers network and was getting the 3G (HSDPA) icon. Under those conditions, my bandwidth tests were returning with speeds of about 320-340 kbps. My testing was not comprehensive or scientific (ie to control for things like using same location, sig strength, etc). I don't know if the limitations were that of the Rogers Network, the T-Mo portal, my hardware or the ROM/radio.
Not sure if that helps, but FYI...
