The number one thing I relize on the Treo 755p that the Treo 680 doesn't have is... IM.

I am assuming this will be AIM/ MSN/ Google, or something close. I was about the purchase my Treo 680 later this week... or should I actually wait for the Treo 755p to ship, and maybe an OS upgrade for the Treo 680.

The thing I am afraid of, is Palm shipping an updated OS version of the Treo 680 with the IM, and not releasing a software update.

I am waiting to see if it will be worth an upgrade. I think they are coming out with a ptach for the 700P soon. By the way didnt you defect to Windows mobile?

A patch?? for the 700p?? Do you know something that no one else knows? I know I'm definately not holding my breath waiting for a 700p patch..

A patch? if there is a patch for the 700p, there should be one for the 680 also.

i did, touched it, returned it. came home, ordered my treo 680 unlocked from palm.com.

I have the 755p and it does have the IM app.. But.. myself and 2 other guys here at work are having a problem with the IM client.. When you go to login on it, it freezes up the phone.. It does this everytime and I/we have to soft reset it.. ANyone else experiencing this problem and if so do they have a fix for it.. THanks in advance..

Yeah... my friend just bought a 755p like two weeks ago. Ive been toying around with the IM app with him, no go.

Just use toccer or purchase munduIM for $11. There's a 755p compatible version floating around treocentral's forums.

The other issue with the Sprint IM is that, according to the Palm Infocenter review, each IM counts as a message charge. Course, if you have unlimited messaging this is no big deal, otherwise it is.

I usually go for a very high amount of SMS or unlimited. I think most intense people that use the Treo, should go for unlimited. Regardless of IM through SMS.

No. Regardless, there are most likely more amazing IM apps than Palm has come up with out there.

I use Mundu IM, which has been working great for me.
