Going to Ontario (Canada) for the weekend. I want to make sure I don't get dinged for roaming data. Aside from turning off my phone, is there a way to turn data off on the 8525 permanently? I can turn it off in the Comm Manager panel, but whenever a data connection is needed, it usually just turns on GPRS by itself. I want to avoid this. Is there a way without installing a new ROM or anything drastic like that? Is there a way to force the 8525 to keep GPRS turned off?

thnx!

dmblue's solution is the best route. If I get a chance tonight, I will look for the link for you. Temporarily, you can go into your data connection settings and create a new one. Call it something distinctive, like NODATA or ROAM or something. Then make it the default connection for the duration of your trip. This will stop the unit from making a data connection and running up a bill. However, it is only a quick fix and has the annoying effect of a pop up saying "can't connect" each time it tries...

Good luck.
