Help!!! Mp3 ringtone for lg lx5500

I have managed to download the files and even get them onto my memory card on the phone, but I cant pull them up as ringtones. For some reason, the usb cable wont work, so I used the memory card adapter thru my lap top to get the 30 sec songs there... Please help me!!! What am I doing wrong, and how can I fix it???

you have create a mid with the melody composer on the phone. Then use the usb cable with bitpim and rename a mp3file to a .mid file. The same name as the melody file from the melody composer. It has its own folder on the filesystem. overwrite the file by clicking overwrite and there you have yourself a full mp3 as your ringtone. took me about 20 min to upload but thats cause i wanted the whole thing. Coolio Gangstas paradise. Now im looking for screen savers and other stuff to put on.
