Snappermail on Treo 680

I am using Snappermail on the Treo 680. It is excellent software. The only problem is that I use the security lock feature on my Treo. When the phone is locked, Snapper is not able to poll in the background for emails. Very frustrating!
Anyone know of a work around to this issue?
