Master Employee Discount List

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: kylestyl

I am an agent for Verizon and would find it helpful to make a list of all the people who are eligible to receive an employee discount. There is already a thread out there with over 300 posts. What I am trying to do is compile a list for everyone. Not only will this help our sales team get users their discounts, it will also let all of you Verizon customers out there know if you have been eligible this whole time. I will try and update this as much as possible. If you know of something on the list that is incorrect or if you know of something that is missing lets us know. Here is what I have so far:

My guess is that this is only a (quite possibly small) sub-set of all the employee discounts, and this thread has a good potential of becoming the same type of long thread that the existing one has become as people will keep on posting more and more.

Posted by: DOTsucks

you can add State of Iowa emplyees 18%, Wells fargo 18 or 20%, Hy-Vee 12%

Posted by: Kopeke

Cornell University- 19%

Posted by: Jonbo298

Qwest Employees (yes, true) 17%

Posted by: iGlenn

The list is a lot longer then that. There are thousands of companies that have agreements to get discounts. The trick is to find someone in VZW that knows anything about them.

Posted by: Port9

Marriott International 18%

Posted by: DOTsucks

probably a safe bet, if you work for a company with several employees, you get a discount.

There's really no "trick" per se, you should be able to simply go to something like https://b2b.verizonwireless.com/tbm...dressFaxBack.do and find out for yourself, or, instead, call in or stop by a corporate store and ask.

Posted by: kylestyl

I agree, the list is probably longer than I can imagine. I have talked to my regional rep and she has not seen a list. She said she just does what we all do, go to the website or call it in.

The discount is usually applied to your "core" monthly plan (not counting any add-ons like messaging packages, V CAST packages, Mobile Web, etc.)--for most people that's just the voice plan, but there are also some that have a bundled voice and data plan, so for them it would be applied to that plan.

Posted by: jboidc

Hmm. I'm one of those people on the $109 1350/PDA, and get the discount of my voice plan only, which is fine. Just wasn't sure whether this was something that was negotiated business by business, or was a flat out across all enterprises.

That's kind of strange, I always thought that the bundled voice and data plans are essentially one plan which has one price associated with it off of which the discount would be taken.

Not sure who told you 19% for Time Warner, but it's actually 22%, I'm looking at our corporate discounts page right now.

There's no way to make a complete list as any company that has 5 or more lines under the tax idea gets at least a 6% discount. I personally have set up 11 or 12 in the last year or so and I'm just an ok sales rep in a small comm store.

It's too bad VZW took away the link to the online store that required a user ID and password to access.

My company's intranet site still contains the old link... and I don't have a company email address I'd really like to see the latest offerings.

Does anyone know anything about State Of Ohio Employee discounts.
I think we get a 15 % off the bill and 25 % on accessories . but I am not sure how much on new phones. VZ is trying to sell me a LG 8700 for $ 10.00 more than I can buy it on line with the $50.00 online discount

Posted by: BluBlakGldFan26

wal mart employees get 20% off of their bills and I'm not sure how much off of their equipment and accessories. I think it depends on how new the phone is and it's a set prices on accessories.
For instance for the 8300:
I paid
nothing for the phone, $30 for the bluetooth headset,$30 for the 3 in one 512 memory,$20 for the lg1 8300 mskk, $30 for the lgi 8300 cas, $3 for the 60-replaceclip cas-univ r, tax was $7.91 he told me it would be $109 before tax but it came out to $120.83 after tax somehow. I figure alot cheaper than those seperately, right or no?

Then I asked about the 8700 and he said it would be $259 for all that and the phone I decided on the 8300 since it was $130 cheaper, I made the right choice right?

Well, it seems that just as I suspected, and mentioned at http://www.howardforums.com/showpost.php?t=8999947, this thread simply became what the original employee discounted thread at http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=772722 was/is.

JPMorganChase owns Bank of NY now so the discount for BoNY should be the same as Chase now.

Are these discounts just on the plans, are there any on the phones?

It could depend on the particular employer and the discount they offer, but generally these discounts are for the most part on the monthly plan rates, and in many cases on accessories.

My wife is a teacher in a Southern California Public School district...does that make her eligible for a discount as a state employee? If so, does anyone know the code because we have a friend at Verizon who can give us the discount if we have the code.

If your friend works for VZW they should be able to research the database and have the discount applied.

Posted by: derichio02

From what I have learned that is not something that they do in the store. Only online and thru the business division. Although he did ask us for an associates phone number and he would find the code that way. Now its just finding an associate who has verizon. Just thought maybe I could get the code faster from hofo

As an employee, I receive 20% off of my Verizon bill presently. I was told that one could also receive some amount off of the BlackBerry plan--is there any truth in this?

Posted by: mikemyu

I get 19% off my monthly access plus 20% off for features.

I'm not sure what kind of plan you have but I have FS plan with Data.

Maybe you can get a discount out of your data but I'm not sure. You can try

calling them up and ask to see what they say. Let us know what happen.

Posted by: Grovesfan

I currently receive 17% off my plan rate (voice with family share and the discount is off the primary line fee only) and 20% off my data plan.

Posted by: Ronin74

i get 20% off my plan with my blackberry, and im just a circuit city employee

Posted by: mikemyu

Seems like VZ is giving out 20%off automatically if you already have a discount out of the monthly access fee. I could be wrong but that seems to be the pattern here.

Posted by: liquidplatinum

I believe this has been discussed and answered already in previous threads by... Oh wait! ME!!

There have been other (even longer ones) like it as well before. I think it's just that every corportation and the current information about the discounts each one of those corporations gets can't really be listed and/or kept up to date, and the best thing is to simply check the VZW web site for corporate discounts or perhaps talk to a VZW CSR and/or inquire about any possible discounts (and perhaps not even just for VZW) at the company/organization you work for and/or belong to.

That's understandable. I just constantly see the same PDA/Smartphone feature discount questions asked over and over again in that forum. I thought this thread pretty much answers that question so I thought I would bump it.

Is it true that the more people from an employer that use Verizon, the higher the discount? We can only get 12%, while Alltel offers 20%, Sprint 23% and At&t 24%. The Verizon store tells me more of the 5,000 plus employees have to sign up with Verizon for the discount to increase. That seems like a double edged sword. Noone at work wants to sign up with Verizon because all the others offer higher discounts! Most everyone at work has service with the other 3. You would think Verizon would at least bump it up to 15 or 17% to lure some folks away from the other carriers.

Posted by: jseah

That's correct for the most part. The more people sign up, the higher the discount will be. I'm sure Verizon does have some exceptions.

It's not always the same, but MOST of the time the way it works is the more lines your business commits to VZW the more your employee liable discount usually is. There is a range of course. It used to be:

5-99
100-499
500-999
1000-9999
10K +

Posted by: Jonbo298

No clue if it is, first time I've had it happen. At first I almost had a heart attack when I get the standard envelope in mail from VZW that I know explains any changes, because I hadn't called CS anytime recently for any changes. But when I saw that, I figured "Cool, an extra 2% off"

This didn't happen with me. I didn't find out about my company's discount increasing from 15 to 19% until I chanced upon the corporate website. Since Verizon still had my discount at 15%, I had to re-register my line and then they started applying my discount at the higher 19%.

Verizon makes us fax a paycheck stub or other payroll document along with the discount application(which has to be printed off our internal website) as proof of employment.

Posted by: nessenj

The last time I applied for a discount, I just simply provided my corporate email address and viola, it was automatically added.

I am re-applying for my new employer's discount and this time they are making me transfer the account into my name (currently in my wife's name), and I think that's all I will need to do.

I'm not sure if it's company dependant..

I the spirit of this thread:

I was in the Verizon Store in Upstate NY this morning adding a line for my father-in-law, and was surprised that the Coupe phone was completely free with the corporate discount (US Army). The VZW rep said that she couldn't give out a list of the discounts but that she could give me the discount price if i asked about a specific phone. So the Coupe was free and also found that the LGVX8350 was free. When I got home I found:

http://b2b.vzw.com/employee/freephones.html

She said that sometimes the corporate discount is better than the in-store price and sometimes it isn't. Also she said that if you order the phone on-line then you can't get the corporate discount and that not all verizon kiosks could give the discount (guess it depends on how their system is connected to verizon's).

Sometimes you have to keep bothering them to speak to someone who knows what they're doing. I've had my corporate discount from working for Best Buy for a few years now, even though I dont work for them anymore

=)

24HR fitness recently had their contract changed as well...

17% - Voice
20% - Data Add-ons
25% - Accessories

Various special discounts whilst upgrading, adding new lines, etc... Free activation still in place, and they sent my partner something regarding special rate plans but I didn't read it because I'm pretty sure it's just giving the pricing with the discount already built in.

Now if only they'd take that stupid $250 limit to charge phones to your bill I'd buy a new dang phone ^_^ Oh well...

Do you have a work email address? Thats much easier, or if you have a Verizon store nearby, take any pertaining info in and they will sort it out.

Once you put in an email account it typically sends the details of the discount to that email account, so that could be a place to check to get more information about it.

Posted by: slreno

never mind, called and found out it is 17% with 25% on phones and acc.

my previous post said i put in a bogus addy, just because i work there doesnt mean i have a email there, i was just checking to see if dollar gen was on there list.

It was hard to tell whether or not you actually had an email address, even if a bogus one was used to check. But, sounds like you were able to get the information you were looking for, which is good.

I'm planning to move from AT&T (grandfathered in family plan with canada coverage) to Verizon. Planning to buy enV from Amazon. Amazon only offers Verizon Family plans without Canada option. And their phone discount states that you can not change the service plan within 6 mnths of opening the acct. to keep the discount.
Now has anyone bought the phone/service with family plan from Amazon, then changed it to family plan with Canada and applied Corporate Discount (GM-21%) without affecting Amazon discount. Thanks.

Posted by: Jonbo298

This is just my theory and don't hold me to it. I don't recall if the Canada part is an add-on or part of a plan anymore (like $5 more a month to add Canada). I would imagine since it costs more, that it wouldn't be against the agreement. But..considering how vague the rules are on Amazon's site when it comes to something like that, I can't give a full answer.

Maybe try their 'product specialist' number and see if they can help or refer you to someone who can help. 866-423-5351

Posted by: jseah

The Canada plan is a separate plan. The difference is that you don't get unlimited N&W, nor do you get unlimited IN, aside from getting calls to Canada without long distance.

Posted by: chaalunet

Canada plan is a separate plan as mentioned above. Thanks.
I just spoke to a Product Specialist. She mentioned that as long as I'm upgrading (spending more money) my plan, the discount will not be affected. didn't ask her about the Corporate Discount though- if that will have any effect on the discount.

Posted by: Jonbo298

Corp discount shouldn't since the base plan cost will still show on the account then the discount. So Amazon wouldn't be aware that you are spending less (but if you look at canada vs no canada diff after discount, if spending more still in terms of if you didn't have Canada, shouldn't be a problem).

I just switched my prepaid service for a contract and work at Walgreens and the CSR told me that i would be getting a 19% discount and I got the RAZR V3m for free. I just did my taxes so when my rebate comes i plan on going back up there and maybe getting the LG Voyager. Just wanted to update the Walgreens 15% to 19%.

Posted by: yuppicide

Everyone is getting the Razr V3M for free. They gave us one too and my friend.

Anyway, L'Oreal Cosmetics gets 17% discount.

Posted by: TeknoRaver

Ok so this is so old now, and it's being ressurected. Well this list can honestly go on, and on, and on. Just go into a store and tell them where you work and they can look it up for you. It's a HUGE database and when we enter your company name, we seriously have to go through different things to make sure it's the right one. Just go in and ask. Just don't forget, schools get the state employee pricing. Even if you don't think it's the right one, at least try submitting it because you may just get it.

I got an accessory for my phone the other day and the woman wouldn't give me a discount for it because I wasn't the owner of the account. The only thing I got was a phone cover! We didn't even need to bring phone accounts into this.

Was the woman wrong? Should I have got my company discount even though I don't own the account?

The discount only comes from and applies to the account holder.

udg21, when you go to www.vzw.com/ryl and enter your email address in, ONLY put in the primary line on your account, none of the secondary lines on your family share plan. If it sees the secondary line, it will say its only costing you $9.99 per month and doesn't qualify.

What is the procedure for employees that do not have an email and want to receive the employee discount? I sent in the form and received an email stating that they do not have my phone number on file. I am currently not a Verizon costumer but looking forward into becoming one within two weeks.

I emailed them back stating that I will become a Verizon costumer within two weeks. How do I go by ordering the phone and plan while receiving the employee discount?

Thanks in advance.

Got an email back from Verizon and it seems like I have to be a current Verizon costumer in order to get the discount.

If you have had a corporate email account, you can go to the corporate website to get the handset discounts and sign up for service with the corporate discount on service. In this instance since you don't have an email account, you need to go through the corporate sales department, not the regular telesales, to order your handset and service over the phone.

St. Barnabas employees receive a 20% discount on service... I know that I can get a discount on accessories, but I had a question about phone discounts; I'm up for a new phone in a week, does the 20% apply to a new phone or is it a different percentage?

Posted by: jseah

It is a different percentage.....actually it is even different from phone to phone. A general rule is that for older or more basic phones, the corporate discount will typically get you the phone at a cheaper price than you can get through retail. However, with newer phones...especially just released phones, it can be several weeks after the phone is available in the retail stores before it is available through corporate. Also, depending on the retail discounts/sales offered on the newly released phones, it can be cheaper for you to get the handset through retail than through corporate.

Posted by: Gzill

thank you... i wasn't expecting a quick reply... I don't work too often with st barnabas so I can't exactly find out the exact discounted services through HR I guess I'll have to find out what they can give me in the store.
