Phone Suggestions to Save a Life!

Hi,

Really.
My colleagues and I are looking for a new phone which would meet these criteria...
1) Be unlocked GSM phone that would have good reception on the Cingular network.
2) Have push email capability to sync with Office Outlook mail and calender and contacts.
3) Have a relatively large screen with good resolution. We are going to be viewing EKG's of heart attack patients and making treatment decisions based on our readings... so the better the resolution, umm.. .the better.
4) Bluetooth
5) Should have QWERTY keyboard of some sort
6) Camera preferrable, not required.
7) Good battery life.

Cost is not that big of a concern.
And if we have to wait a couple months for something good, that's ok too.

One of the ones we've been looking at online is the HTC S710.
Thanks,
Chris

Nice phone (I've had my eye on it) but note that it is not a PPC; check to see if you're going to need this platform for some of your apps/needs.

Good Luck.

Hi,

I guess I'm not too clear on what functionality differences there are between smartphones and pocket pc phones...
Can you elaborate a bit?

Thanks,
Chris

For one thing, PPCs tend to be a bit bigger, and they have touchscreen capabilities. To me, they're more like PDAs with phone functions.

There are a lot of older and useful apps that cannot be run on a Smartphone; only a PPC phone.

Read what MDA/Axim (a PPC) owners have to say as well as SDA/DASH/etc. owners throughout this forum.
You may run across something that dictates your choice.

Good Luck.

The big question is...what are you going to use to view EKGs?
Is there a particular piece of sftware you have in mind?
Is it compatible with both smartphone and pocketpc OSs?

i find ppc tends to have more medical software.

You may wish to have laptops connected to your phone so that the image is better read and manipulated.
I can't imagine the litigation involved if something was not read properly because the screen size was too small (e.g., cell phone display).
I would test out the phone you eventually decide upon to see if it affords a good readout/display in the first place.
