WTF Razr V3c file transfer useless?

I have a V3c and Motorla phone tools and its giving me nothing but problems.

I connect the phone, it recognizes it, and I will have maybe enough time to transfer one ringtone before it tells me "Connection with phone failed". And I have to disconnect it and go through the process again.

Likewise I will have time to maybe view a picture, then go to transfer it to the PC only to have "Connection to phone failed".

I've tried it with 3 different USB cables and its always the same. Anybody know WTF the issue is? Is it the software, drivers, or defective phone?

EDIT: It has the same problem with Bitpim, so its either the phone or the drivers...

I'm having the same issue with my RIZR Z3. It connects to the phone fine, until I attempt to transfer a file, whether it be mp3 or picture. Same error message every time "Connection link was broken by the phone" or something similar. And every time i have to disconnect and reconnect the phone. Any help from anyone would be appreciated. I got the phone from an online vendor, btw, if that means anything.

Try drivers first... use the latest from the motodev site... http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/

Next, you need to know if your wireless provider disables the file transfer capabilities of your phone like Verizon does with theirs... One way... check bit0 of offset 6A in seem 2742... if the bit is "off" then your transfers are disabled... turn that bit ON to enable.
