OK. So if you have a degree or background in marketing or just want to input some ideas, I would greatly appreciate it!!! and mods - if I am not allowed to post such a topic, please either move to appropriate forum or please notify me - thank you!!!

Background: I am back in school going for my Marketing degree and my first class I have, we have to develop a marketing strategy for somethingnew. Well 1st thing that pops into my head is something that could compete against the new iPhone along with the other PDA devices such as the Blackberrys and treos as well as the iPhone. The device I have come up with would be a Windows based device made from microsoft themselves (I know not the best choice, but I just randomly picked something that may be avalible for more research purposes). I also decided to have an exclusive launch with T-Mobile for ease of nationwide avalibility.

Well now I have to create a marketing strategy on how this device would be.
Steps for a guideline are:
1: Situational Anaylysis - Backgrounds from companies and perhaps why we need a newer device in the market.
2: Enviroment - a Swot anaylis.
3: Market reserach - For this i have a small competitive matrix with the new device, i phone, treo 750, and blackberry 8800 - but could use more ideas in this area.
4: Goals and objectives.
5:Target Market areas - Looking for 2 key areas here. The younger- hipper 18-25 consumer - more on the male side, and the 25-45 older males in the business feilds.
6:Strategy
7:Tactics
8:Evaluation
9:Budget

Basically Im playing off the same features as the iphone, but just to cripple it a bit to show that I have some competition to win market share against the iPhone. Example: 1 key issue for younger markets is that the iTunes has been heavily promoted already and people may have songs already that will load into the iphone, but not the new device.

Like i say any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated!!

Oh I also need a name idea. So far I just came up with a Microdoft OTG (On The Go) basically everything can be on the go with this device. Also, I just thought of the HTC - MDA/SDA and that they were just simple 3 letter acronyms.

I will also be cross posting this same thread in a couple other areas just to make sure that one one that does come on HF, they can possibly lend a hand.
