Can you use the parts from dummy phones on actual phones?

I'm thinking of getting a 705sh, but I don't like the colour of the housing. Is it possible to replace just the housing with the parts from a dummy phone? (http://hk.f1.page.auctions.yahoo.co...tion/1112740545)

I have seen many types of phone dummy, although this one looks ok. I am not sure what I would recommend, but if it's not expensive - give it a go!

Interesting point...I never thought of that before.

Well, they say that they use all the real parts to manufacture the dummy (just that there are no electronics inside) . . . so I suppose that it can be done.

Unless, maybe . . . the plate is actually glued instead of using screws in the dummy?

im not sure but arent dummy phone houseings glued together and if u try to get into them they will break!?

yea, they're glued together, and the material for some dummies aren't the same material as the real phone.

eg, I took apart a chocolate dummy, the plastic was a lot cheaper, and the slide spring mechanism was really cheaply held by the cheap springs that clicky pen's use.

unles.. that's how chocolates actually are.. lol but i doubt it.

It has to look the same so when it's in a shop people get a good feel for what the phone's like...

THey are the sample phones that you play with in the shop,... no electronics inside.

And we had this discussion a few weeks back, NO THEY CAN NOT BE USED.

No you can't use them because Sharp, like the other manufacturers, uses cheap plastics and glues them together to make a dummy model. A lot of times the caps for the charger and headphone sockets can't be opened because they're a complete part of the side casing.
