Just wondering what the best program to run mp3 ringtones on the 680 is? Thanks!

First of all......search the forums.

Second......search again.

Lastly, search for "Minitones" and you'll have the answer you require.

I have had mp3's as ring tones on Treo's before, they really do not sound that good at all.

It's really not that big of a deal.

.

strange..... my mp3 as ringtones for my treo 600, 650, and now 680 had no problem???

what i did was encode them at 29.5 secs, using 128kbps mono. I think my speaker is damaged because now i can barely hear anything out of the speakerphone speaker and it buzzes too. I am about fed up with this treo, I ponder whether i would like to keep it or it

I can't see an mp3 ringtone causing damage like that unless they were extremely loud.

defective speakers? ...

Posted by: sirclown82

Sorry i forgot to put that part in, it wasnt because of the ringtone. It just has a minor attitudial problem. It's worse on really humid days, so i dont know if the little speaker is messed up or not.

I'd be willing to bet the farm if I had one.

If you can get it replaced, do so.

Its not a big deal to me anyways. I work at DFW airport so i, most of the time, it's on silent/vibrate cause it's so freaken' loud out there. Ill keep putting up with it till it's time to move on to something else. I plan on making a carrier change in the near future, so ill just wait it out.

I found something new and hidden on the Treo 680. Go to the Contacts, select someones card, and edit it. Does anyone else see the ringtone selection option!!?? You can use an app *insert name here* (i forgot the name, it allows putting mp3's in the treo's ringtone list) and select it from the list.

I dont think I need Ringo Pro anymore... this should do the trick for me, once I find that app. Minitones or soemthing? someone please refresh my memory lol.

Yh, I just got my Treo 680 last Tues, found it the 2nd day lol.

The thing I dont like about minitones is that it copies all the mp3's to your internal memory. Any way to stop this?

Posted by: WoNGsTeR

well the reason minitones does that is because copies it to where the other default ringtones are so that your treo will find it when you got to select a ringtone from the standard ringtones, and that is why you are able to select the mp3 as your ringtone.

are you using that much internal memory? how small are you making the ringtones?
I trim them to around 13-20 seconds. There is not point in it going that longer. so my mp3 are about 300-600k bytes..

u cant... but its okay as long as you trim it the mp3s shouldnt take up too much memory u can delete them once ur done using them too
