V600 Charging, Time, Date Problems

I have had my V600 since the model first came around a few years ago.
Joined this forum about that time and followed all the great threads to update the flash and flex and even did some seem edits and such.
I updated to the 9.55r Triplets that did not allow any further updating at the time but never mind the phone always seemed to work OK
I have never had any major issues with my phone that some folks seemed to be having so I was off this forum for a long time,,,,,,,,,now folks are talking about the more modern phones that are out there but I plug along with my V600.
On to my problem,,,,,,,,,,,,it would seem in the last several months something has changed either hardware or software as now when I remove the battery to put in a fresh one I lose the time date back to Jan 1 00 and time to 00:00. I must reset to current date and time on every battery change.
You may ask why am I not just charging the phone with the plug in charger?
That's issue 2. That feature does not seem to work. I cannot get the charger to charge the phone. I have 2 OEM units and a third from another vendor and none of them will charge the phone from the wall directly.
The rest of the phone features all seem to function correctly.
I have not tried to look at any files as I would not know what to look at for these things
So if anyone cares to talk about an older phone and has some ideas what might be going on feel free to send me a message,,,,,,,,,,,
Thanks for listening

First: It says atop that you actually joined August 2006, but onto you problem...
How long does it take you to change out the batteries? If you just took out one battery and inserted another one quickly, nothing should change, but if you take a long time to put in a battery, it (your time and date) will revert to default and at some phones will also erase your recent call lists as well.

there is a small backup battery inside, its possible its pooched...
if you remove and re-insert the battery fast, it usually remembers the time, when you plug the charger in, it usually always works.

Hi and thanks for the input on my issues,,,,,,,,,,yes I know it shows I joined in 2006 but that was the second time in since I had a hard drive crash last summer and I lost all my data and to be honest I was not on the site for some time and I lost my username that I logged in with so I started over again,,,,,,,,,,the first time i got some great help from a guy with the name Ryugin I believe,,,,,,,,,,anyway thanks
Just to satisfy the question about how quickly I change the battery,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I took out a fully charged battery and waited 5 seconds and re-installed it and powered on and the date and time were defaulted already. I checked the calls in and out lists and they were OK and still there,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,as for the charging issue,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I inspected the connector on the phone with a magnifier and lamp and saw a lot of dirt,,,,,,,,,,I cleaned it and plugged in the charger,,,,,,,,,,,,on first connect the phone would not charge but I pushed harder and wiggled it a bit andd the charging started,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so maybe I have a poor connection on the phone as the charging plug looks fine,,,,,,,,,,,so,,,,,,,,,,,,,any more ideas about the time and date?
Is there really a back up battery for this or is it just a capacitor that is not holding a charge and allowing it to die to quickly or something of that sort?
Thanks again
