Any Signs of EV-DO?

Just wondering, if an area *cough* Orangeville, were to be getting EV-DO, would there be ANY signs of it coming at all? Yeah I'm still on 1X here, and I have noticed that when watching MobiTV the time the video pauses to buffer has been shortened. Same with the time it takes a preview to load on the music store. No clue if it's just me or not.

Maybe they pulled in a better internet downlink ... but it looks like EV-DO expansion is indefinitely stalled in that area...

I've got EV-DO about a 7 minute drive out of town. C'mon and move it here!

No EV-DO here yet. Grr . I'm trying to use the internet on my phone and I'm getting "Error #2048. Network Busy. Please try again." Now I press retry and get "Error #0. Network error. Connection in failed. Please wait a moment and try again. If this problem persists, you may need to contact your service providor." I wonder if this means, EV-DO on soon? . I called Bell (cause this has been going on since yesterday) and they submitted a trouble ticket and said a level 3 technician would call me back.

Today I was randomly staring at my phone and the EV-DO Available icon appeared for about 2 seconds then disappeared. This happened as well this past weekend. Mean anything?

Arg. I want EV-DO so bad. Telus looks tempting but no unlimited mobile browser....

Well well well. Everyone. I've been using Orb recently to test my speeds. And a few days ago when I tested my speed it was 23kB/s. And now I just ran a test and it says 78kB/s!!! The EV-DO indicator is not on, BUT, I'm still getting 78kB/s. I am aware that with EV-DO I can get over 200kB/s, but 78kB/s on 1X, possible? Does this mean anything?

Well, right now I'm on my computer with my cell phone internet (tethered). I do not have EV-DO, still got 1x. I'm currently getting these speeds:

A little too fast to still be on 1x, right?

I would say it's still 1x. It can reach those speeds and seeing as it's later at night, I would not be surprised.

Thanks for your reply! Last week, it was taking about a minute to download a 30 second song preview from the music store, and now, it takes about 5 seconds. What did Bell do to "increase" the speed?

Also, it doesn't matter which time of day it was, I was still getting the same speeds even during peak hours.

DAMNIT!! Speeds have gone back to their previous slowness . Oh well, got a good week of those fast speeds. It was damn good while it lasted.
