V710 front LCD backlights but no image

I've been using this model of phone for almost two years now. I got it with my contract, but broke right before the warranty date (didn't turn on). Got a replacement, now more than a year after my replacement I have this problem!
All of a sudden i'm at work, checking the time using my phone, I press the side button and the front LCD doesn't show the time anymore! Upon closer inspection, the backlight glows (grows from pitch black to a dark navy blue), but nothing else shows. When I open my phone, the inner LCD works fine (for now?). What are my repair options? Any idea on repair cost? Can't believe I spent $300 on 2 duds :-(
