Can I use a UK T-Mobile locked phone in the US with a US T-Mobile SIM card?

Some people have reported some success with this. But, there is no guarantee. You just have to try and see if it works.

T-Mobile should unlock it for you (for about £15) if you've been with them for longer than a month and don't owe them any money

No it can't. They are two separate carriers.

They charge for that over there?

yup,.. I think it's an administration charge.. and is optional depending on the network. Of course depending on your phone there are free ways of doing it... and there are 3rd party unlockers. Some networks over here don't even lock the phones in the first place.

Kinda the same here, except every phone is locked. At least T-Mobile doesnt charge here though.

Acatually, Cingular was selling their world phones unlocked for a while up until about a almost 2 years ago. Cingular or Tmobile do not charge to unlock your phone. You just have to be a customer (prepaid or contract) for 90 days.
