KRZR = No Voicemail on Cingular?

Just got a new KRZR about 3 weeks ago. I renewed my contract with Cingular so we could get new phones. My son also got a new KRZR the same day I did. Mind you, these are Cingular branded phones, not ones bought directly from the manufacturer or from Ebay.

Here is the problem...neither of us are getting voice message notifications. If we miss a call, it will say 1 missed call, but it will never show the icon for a voice message or an on-screen message telling that I have one. I just thought I would check my messages by pressing 1 and holding. Come to find out, I had 2 new messages there from last week, but never got a notification about it. I also noticed that I cannot go to a history of missed calls. I can go to Recent Calls, but it only shows the last calls I made...not received.

Daughter is having just the opposite problem. She is getting the voicemail icon, but it won't disappear even after listening to her new messages. She has a RAZR.

Help me please. I just converted over from Nokia, but this is getting old, quick.

Thanks.

Cingular had some issues with this a few years ago. They were able to fix them through tech support though. Mind you, somthimes it make take a few calls but they should see the problem. Also if you have an older VM code on the account. One that didnt have message waiting indicator on it. Then that could be the issue. When upfradeing the rep may have removed that message waiting indicator from your accoutns & didnt realize it. Havent seen that in awhile, but it is possible.

I would do 1 of 2 things. First call tech yourself & explain not only the issues that you are having with the two numbers that the Krzr are on, but also the number that is getting notifications without VM actually being there. Second, go to the retail store, have them to check your account (sometimes vm can be removed & readded to fix), if everything is good there, have THE REP at the store to call tech. I cant remember what the issues was before when this happened, but if my memory serves me right it was a simple fix if you got the right person in tech.

Thanks. I am off work tomorrow so I will give them a call. All I did was just extend my contract on the lines with the 2 KRZR's. They had expired about 2 weeks before getting the new phones. My VM indicator worked fine with my old phones (Nokia 6102i and SE Z500) so I thought it may be the phones themselves. Daughter's phone VM indicator was working fine too. Her phone died and she bought a used RAZR from a co-worker and that is when her problem started. The contract on her phone is mid-term and nothing has been changed. I just thought it could have been a Motorola glitch, since our 3 older phones were not Motorola's and we had no problem with them.

Thanks again.

Yes do that. Give them a Call. I have a Krzr K1m. Its not with cingy/at&t, its with alltel. So its CDMA & not GSM. However i havent had any problems at all. Much less a problem with VM. That is why it makes me think that its a account or network issue.

Got it all straightened out. Called customer service and explained problem. Fortunately, the lady I spoke with used to work in tech support and she figured out the problem in about 10 seconds. I had text messaging blocked a few weeks ago, and the rep I spoke with done it the wrong way. When she blocked it, she also blocked the VM.

Thanks for your time.

No problem. I figured that it was something simple like that. Thats why I say that you have to be careful of who you talk to in CS or tech. You kinda have to feel them out to see exactly what they know. If you get alot of pauses or "i need to put you on hold" thats usually a sign to hang up & call back.
