I haven't seen this mentioned on this site or any other BB site so I just thought I would tell people that the new 8700 software 4.2.1.108 (multi language) is out from Telefonica Venezuela.

I haven't used my 8700 in quite a while but I pulled it out of retirement today to load the 4.2 OS onto it. So far it's been working fine. I was worried that the new OS would slow the 8700 down but it's very fast. Overall I'm used to this OS as the BlackBerry Pearl and the BlackBerry 8800 both run 4.2. It's been less than a day but I haven't noticed any bugs at all. I'll probably switch back to my 8800 in a day or so but I'm glad that I finally have this OS on the 8700 just in case something ever happens to my 8800.

If we have ZEN theme installed with version 4.1, does upgrading the version cause any problems?

The Zen theme also works with the 4.2 OS.

I have noticed the 8700g with the new software is a little sluggish but it has not crashed or anything.

I'm running this SW, as the version I got with this phone (which was a replacement) seemed to be a lot buggier than the version I had with my first 8700 (which I lost).

I am running into an issue where our BES won't do the enterprise activation on this phone for some reason now...it just gets stuck at the "waiting for services" part and there is no wireless activity shown on the display...It obviously is connecting to the BES as this is the 4th thing that happens after activation but it just sits there...

I'm going to powercycle it and see if that helps.

Yeah, it's a little sluggish, but I switched from the 8800 to the 8700 overnight.

It's a little slow, and the media player sometimes gives me the Java Uncaught.Handle.Errors, but other then that, PROOOOOOOOOOO.

My 8700 hasn't been sluggish at all. It's running rather quick and so far I have had no errors either.
I'l be switching back the the 8800 later this evening though because I hate carrying my iPod everywhere.

Hrm... I might just re-wipe my handheld and reinstall the FW just to make sure that it isn't something got bunked whilst upgrading.
