Where can I get Phone Tools 4.5 ?

Posted by: hytran

I'd be suspect. 4.5 isn't available thru live update, so I would doubt the legitimacy of this download. It is, however, available as a download to those who can prove that they own the software. So the link would be warez anyway which is verboten here and most other reputable sites...

What online stores have the latest version of Phone Tools available for purchase & download (not a CD)?

Thanks!
Brian

Good Question and I would also like to know?

What about these people selling the download of phone tools 4.36c on eBay for $1.99?

Is this legit software?

Google Motorola Phone Tools and you should be able to find a (free) downloadable file. In addition run Setup> Update and you should also be able to upgrade to 4.36c like I mentioned to you before. I have not seen verison 5 as of yet and I'm already updated to the latest 4.36c.

I have the 4.0 CD here somewhere but I can't find it.

4.36c is current.

4.50 is beta... only available by contacting BVRP/Avanquest and providing Proof of Purchase of a legal/legit copy of MPT.

version 4.51 is said to be available to all via live update "SOON" per BVRP's support forum... http://www.bvrpforums.com/motorola/

1. It IS out there and it IS the full version.
2. Every version/CD I have is OEM (20 CD's to date) Since I do NOT plans on running Vista any time soon I'll just wait until it is available through Live Update.

Not saying it ISN'T... just saying that what IS out there is not a LEGAL version...

Keep in mind, there are cases of non-legit copies which will not live update, and BVRP/Avanquest won't help if its not a legal copy.

Considering you can get a Legal/Legit copy of MPT on CD (with USB-A to Mini-B Cable) for $15 including shipping from Newegg, or purchase/download (no usb cable) directly from BVRP's web site for $29.99 (and they also have some 15% off coupons to use)... Doing the "right thing" and Purchasing a Legal copy is not a bad option.

Every phone I have purchased included an OEM copy of MPT so in that sence I have purchaded legal OEM copies of the SW. I was just stating that the copies I have found via the internet are infact upgradable copies. Being leagal or not.

Version 4.51c was added to the liveupdate today so fire up your copies of MPT and get the update.

Posted by: hytran

Dunno about anyone else, but running Live Update in 4.50b says I have the latest version...

AnalogTiger What version did you upgrade from? It seems that there are others having issues with upgrading...

I had version 4.3.6c before upgrading to 4.51c

Posted by: Hooterville

Will it go from 4.0 to 4.51c when I run Live update?

Why not just run the liveupdate and find out, that way you can tell the rest of us since none of us work for BVRP.

It will upgrade from v4.0 to v4.51c... BUT it will most likely do it incrementally.. i.e. bring down each update step along the way... like 4.0 -> 4.04b -> 4.21 -> 4.36c -> 4.51c.... and you may have to reboot after a couple of them, and re-run live update along the way...

However, BVRP's support staff are investigating problems of people with 4.34 and 4.36c where LiveUpdate is telling them they are current, and not updating to 4.51c... see -> http://www.bvrpforums.com/motorola/viewtopic.php?t=4694

There are no release notes on 4.51c yet... but their support staff claim Vista and Outlook 2007 support...

Edit: I uninstalled 4.5.0b, installed 4.3.6c and the first run of Live Update found and installed 4.5.1c.

Unless they fixed things, YMMV

I have 4.3.6c and when I try to update it still tells me that I have the latest version.

I said YMMV. Your Mileage May Vary. It may or may not work. No guarantees. It happened to work for me.

Read the thread at bvrpforums.com that I referenced.

Setup > Live Update or Update form MPT itself.

Posted by: cal dak kid

4.5.1c seems to have an issue with V3m. I did the live update thing today, calendar and phone numbers wouldn't sync. Had to delete and re-install 4.3.6c.

Then you should report this to the MPT support forum - www.bvrpforums.com/motorola

They're not going to know if you don't tell them.

Posted by: darkcarter

Whats the current version of MPT now?

Posted by: hytran

Can't trouble yourself to take a peek at BVRP's support site?

http://www.bvrpforums.com/motorola/...35a52cdfb0e00bf

Should be pretty self-explanatory
