Traveling to iceland

My father is traveling to iceland on a 2 month job. I can't read icelandic and I need to know does vodafone iceland sell their phones unlocked or locked?

You need a GSM phone.... 
T-Mobile and Cingular's phones are GSM... just make sure they are unlocked, and are triband/quadband.
You can always pick up a cheap Triband/Quadband phone before he heads off.
Motorola have some nice older models that are cheaper these days, especailly of eBay... like a V635... or something if he want's something cheap. More expensive stuff like Nokia N80's and Motorola A1200 would work there too.
