Is there a simple way to accept credit card payments via cell phone?

My wife often sells her scented candles at craft fairs, bazaars, and such. She would like to accept credit card payments by possibly dialing into a credit card processing service via her cell phone--a RAZR with Verizon on the America's Choice plan--pressing the credit card numbers in on the keypad and making the charge right then and there.
I Googled "credit card processing cell phone" and got a hundred companies that provide this, but they all want to sell a wireless credit card terminal or require a PDA or some gizmo that connects to your cell phone to swipe the card. Is this really necessary?
I realize there is a hefty fee (setup, monthly and per transaction) but it still might be worth it. I can foresee one disadvantage being that there would be no printed receipt and no signature for the transaction. There are companies that sell a wireless credit card terminal with printer--but we're getting into a lot of money here even if it uses her cell phone for the connection. She doesn't really make that much money at these craft fairs, but she could possibly recoup the money invested if she could take credit cards.
Has anybody out there dealt with this?

Look at Propay. It will cost you $59.95/year plus credit card processing fees ((3.25% plus $.35)/transaction)

(While I use Propay for processing internet transactions, I don't use the phone service)
