Using Modem Link to Tether Treo 750?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I can't seem to figure how to get this program to work to tether my Treo 750. Has anyone else figured out how to tether the Treo 750?

Steps to get it working.

1. Setup ModemLink on the phone
2. Connect the phone to the PC and install the drivers

3. Make a Dial Up Networking Connection, username and password blank but the access number is *99# or *99***1#

Then Right click on the dial up connection > and click properties.

Then it will display Modem: Palm Treo > Click Configure.

4. There 3 three checkboxes that will not be checked, it has to do with "use modem hardware feature" or something along those lines. Check all 3!

5. Change the speed too 921600 bps ( 921.6 KBPS)

6. Click "OK" and then click "OK" again and then try to connect it.

7. it will take a few seconds and then it will say authenticating username and password > then it will say please wait while we register the computer on the network. Then your all set to browse. It amazes me how Palm reps dont post any of this info on their website.

Thanks for the reply. All that seems simple enough except for the part where you set up a dial up network. I'm new to the PPC OS so I'm not quite sure where everything is yet. Where do you go to set up the dial up network? Thanks again.

no you have to create the dialup connection on the pc

I haven't given it a try yet, I've just been using my blackjack for tethering. Thanks for the info though.

I am having the same issues. I just dont know what driver to install in "step 2"

When you create your dial up networking, it will have hardware spec to check off. Just pick your modem and check it off.

Just download WM6 and use a PAN connection over bluetooth. Haven't had trouble tethering since I updated the OS and everything works phenomenally.

Sorry to bring back an old thread.

I have done everything as above but getting error code 777. Does anything need to be changed on the device? Also, I am not able to edit the access point name under modem link. So it's showing as <none>

BTW, I am able to tether via bluetooth.
