Issue with USB on PPC6700

I am not sure if others have experienced this issue.

PPC6700 USB sync works excellent until you set up the USB tethering for PPC6700 to connect to laptop/desktop as a modem.

Once this has been completed and you use the PPC6700 as a modem, the regular USB sync does not work without moving the device to another USB port.

When connecting for USB sync, XP laptop shows problem with USB device.

I have a second USB port I connect the PPC6700 sync cradle to and it works fine.

Please note I have re-enabled activesync on both laptop and PPC6700. I am using Activesync 4.5.

This is not really a huge pain, just a minor inconvenience.

Are you using Wireless Modem or Internet Sharing (only available through AKU3.5)?

I believe that Wireless Modem and ActiveSync conflict with each other. In fact, when you start Wireless Modem, it shuts down ActiveSync on the phone. But I found that back when I used Wireless Modem, all I had to do when I was done was stop the Wireless Modem app, pop my 6700 out of the cradle, and then put it back in. That would reenable ActiveSync.

Actually, if you upgrade to AKU3.5 (search the forum for the howto) you will fall in love with Internet Sharing. It's so much simpler and much more reliable. You just start Internet Sharing on the 6700, and plug in the USB cable. That's it.. nothing to configure on the laptop at all (since you have ActiveSync 4.5, you are already set up).

Silly question...but did your battery life improve "after" the AKU 3.5 upgrade?

My 6700 is with Telus mobility and has "their" most current ROM upgrade, and the battery life sucks!! I have mine configured to utilize "direct push" with my Exchange server, and if I leave the device just sitting in its holster (with the backlight, and volume settings set very low), I'm at 30-40% after 15 hours of being out of the charge.....IF i use it regularly, its warning me to recharge or risk losing data after 6-8 hours.

FYI, its my second device, and both did the same thing, so I don't think I have a "bum" unit....

Big difference in battery life. I regularly go 2 days without a charge... and I use it for data a couple of hours a day, plus it checks 2 IMAP email accounts every 15 minutes.

I am using wireless modem, internet sharing is not on any AKU's until 3.5. I did use Kirvin "no junk" AKU 3.5 for a couple of weeks and found the internet sharing good.
