Anyone else hear about the new PDA and BB plans?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My manager told me about the new PDA and BlackBerry plans coming out April 20th. Anyone else hear about them?

Here are the details:

PDA Personal - 20MB data $29.99/month
PDA Max - Unlimited data and 1,500 messages $39.99/month

Blackberry Personal Max - Unlimited data with no BES access and 1,500 messages $29.99/month

There are other messaging plans coming out for regular phones as well. I don't know any info about those though.

Great, there goes my features again

Yeh, it's been reported for about a month now. Pretty good stuff. Supposedly and this one is only rumor. They will also have incoming minutes for $14.99 unlimited but you have to drop rollover. Also LG chocolate 800 phone is coming out in the next few weeks.

And the cycle continues!! I guess Cingular needs to show more data growth, so they've come up with new SOC codes for everyone to flip. There is a new MW plan starting the 21st that gives an additional 500 MSG for the same price ($14.99). Yippee! Can't wait to see all the chargebacks.

Aren't those updated plans being added automatically (read: Changing the billing code for 1500 msgs instead of 1000)?

They didn't update automatically last time. ($19.99 to $14.99)

The rumor was that since the pricing was the same, the new plans would be applied automatically.

Guess we'll find out next Monday.

Hmm, I doubt it. They didn't do that with Media Basic.

.

So why would anyone ever get PDA plan without the messaging? I guess that's pretty much useless now. Same with the Blackberry Personal plan.

Good move for Cingular. I like it.

Like I said...I can already smell the flipping in the air.

It will likely help me more than hurt me.

No one is saying that it will be a bad thing...at least I know I'll hit my data revenue goal for the month!

Turns out they are most likely mistaken. What a shame, engadet used to be a reliable source for info.

Interesting how unreliable info can spread to other places. Thanks for posting that.

It is a bit of an accomplishment for VZ to take over ATT in postpaid though.

Cingular is still the largest provider in the nation. Post-paid activations are a count that we use on this forum, however I have yet to find a journalist that considers Verizon Wireless the largest simply because of its post-paid activations. For my purposes, I use 61 million to 59.1 million.

There really isn't anything new for BB except that they added 500 messages to the BB max plan, making it 1500 messages. The changes were to phone Media bundles, phone Messaging packages, and PDA plans.

From my point of view this stuff is still expensive, but it's great and the combination would churn me to it!

Combine this with some sort of visual voice mail(with or without the iPhone) and you will have the best offers in wireless!

so BB max is to include unlimited BES or BIS plus 1500 text msgs... and this is already being offered? every time ive brought this up to someone, they have no clue as to this plan.

The blackberry plans didn't change. Only PDA connect and the media plans changed

Yep, that's basically how it is. The internet plans are the same but the max plans just had 500 extra messages added to it.

Here are the SOC codes for the "new" BB plans (note: not really "new" they just added 500 more messages)

SCW4 $44.99 - BB BES unlimited -- no messaging included
DBB8 $54.99 - BB BES unlimited -- 1500 messages included
MBB8 $59.99 - BB BES unlimited -- 1500 messages, plus unlimited M2M messaging

***For Stand-alone, just add $5 to above plans

BIA1 $29.99 - BB BIS unlimited -- no messaging
DBB6 $39.99 - BB BIS unlimited -- 1500 messages
MBB6 $44.99 - BB BIS unlimited -- 1500 messages, plus unlimited M2M messaging

***For Stand-alone, just add $5 to above plans

Hope that helps.

For Cingular????

Posted by: scooby2

So is the PDA Max plan officially out? Was checking out the 8525 today and the sales team there had not heard of such a thing. Cingular website also does not show it.

Posted by: ivwshane

Its been out for a while. Its $39.99 and includes unlimited pda data as well as 1500 messages.

Careful...that PDA plan is for PERSONAL...you can not use any Cingular Enterprise Email services with that one. Sort of like BIS instead of BES for BB. I haven't seen a code yet that incorporates PDA (for business) with any messaging included. Just the PDVU is out there, and it is $39.99 for unlimited data only.

What exactly does this mean? I would like to get this plan and use my device with my company's Exchange server. Does this require Cingular Enterprise Email? Technically this it's just a normal data connection.

Thanks
