I have never had any memory leak issues with my BlackBerry 8800 at all. Between all the applications, ringtones, wallpapers and emails I have stored on the device I am currently sitting at just over 25MB of free onboard memory. I check my free memory often (it's a bad habit) and I have never noticed a dip in my memory. When I was using the BlackBerry Pearl and ran the newer OS versions I never had a memory leak issue either.

What firmware are you using? Is it the one that was shipped onboard?

Background: I wanted to stick the TMo themes onto my 8800, so I did the usual - downloaded firmware, replaced the BlackBerry.alx files, and updated.

What I did noticed tho is that the 8800 firmware shipped with my Roger's 8800 is 4.2.1.93. I downloaded Tmo's 4.2.1.73. I don't have slowdowns nor the memory leak issue.

If you are loosing your emails after a few days you likely need to change your 'Keep Messages' length under Message Options (choose options from within the messages menu) -> General Options -> change "Keep Messages" to Forever.

my emails are set to be kept for 30 days.

emails/text mssgs disappearing seems to occur after a near crash or lockup of the bb.

I have the same version as Mod H7 and haven't had an issue.

Mine is fine, as is my Pearl.

Today I did a poll of my many employees with both 8100 and 8800 models and memory leak is something that we have not experienced to date. The quantity of models polled was approx 50.

Quick question, where do I go to see avaliable memory on my pearl? I know where to go to see my media card but the handheld. What's a good amount of free memory should I have to keep the phone running smoothly?

Hold down the ALT key then press EACE or go to Options/Status to view your free onboard memory.

I've recently upgraded the OS on my BlackBerry 8800 to 4.2.1.90 and I haven't noticed any memory leak issues with this OS version either.
