V3xx vs Krazr

Well I got rid of the Sync. The UI and buggy phone book, poor BT performance with my Plantronics Voyager 510, and lack of voice recognition got to me. So I ended up finally porting all my VZW lines over and got 2 Krazrs.
Now we have one Razr (V3 black), 1 V3xx, and 2 Krazrs. I need the absolute best in performance. Is there any reason for me to get one of the Krazrs exchanged for a V3xx? I know looks and so on and the xx is 3g whatever that means (I have no idea what 3g means in reagrds to how well I can talk).
We really like both but the V3xx is about $40 cheaper too.

I find that call quality is much better on 3G vs. EDGE or GPRS, however I couldn't tell you the technical details about that (I believe it is a 'codec' difference). I have been told, however that as more users begin to capitalize on 3G, the call quality will eventually resemble EDGE/GPRS quality.

Glad to hear that you're on AT&T! I have been following your posts, and am pleased that you found a good solution that fits your needs.

Really the Krzr is a good buy it has much better battery life than the v3xx, ive used both. It depends on what your looking for, obviously by your statement you dont do anything internet and 3g is basicly internet with somewhat better voice clarity. I never had a problem wit my Krzr and my calls sounded good on it. I would say go wit the Krzr if money isnt a factor because in my opinion the Krzr is more of a phone and the v3xx has more of the features like faster internet, cingular video, and the music player reads the files alot faster then on the Krzr. The Krzr has much better battery life, reception is among the best ive seen, it just doesnt have high speed internet.

Does the krzr have better battery life because where you live there's 3g and the v3xx in 3g doesn't last as long as the krzr? It seems that since the v3xx has a larger battery, if both are in 2.5G that the v3xx would get better battery life.

Well yeah my main purpose is phone anything else is just bonus. So like I said I need the absolute best product for reception and call quality in weak areas (my home area). I gave the kid (one who disliked the Razor) the V3xx and she does not want to give it up. ;-) and her voice quality seems quite good on it. She is in a dorm that's steel and concrete. Glad she's not in Virginia though whew that is really bad news coming from there and you can't help but feel for so many parents and their kids.
I seriously don't know I can really tell any difference in voice quality or reception between the 2 either. We have no 3g where I live either.

Im in Chicago so yes i always have 3G displaying, and that has alot to do wit battery life on the v3xx. It could possibly be that the v3xx battery is on the same level as the krzr if its crippled to only do edge, but then its the same as the krzr with the krzr having a better camera. Im just basing my findings on that i use more than 3000 mins a month and prob bout 4k in text and the krzr was able to handle my addictive habits for more than a day at a time off of one charge.

I've always been pleased with Motorola on AT&T's network, but the V3xx was one of the best cellular phones that I have used in some time. If I didn't need the e-mail capabilities that the Pearl offers, I would return to the V3xx in a heartbeat.

In regards to the Virginia Tech incident, my thoughts and prayers go to the individuals that frequent the campus first and foremost, as they are dealing/have dealt with this firsthand. Obviously, with any national tragedy, loved ones worry about those that they care about, and this incident is no different. I truly hope that sufficient contact has been established to ease the worries of wives, fiancees, girlfriends, families, and siblings.

You mean the ones that don't exist?

Posted by: vietalogy

i vote for v3xx because it has the newer UI and 3g.

The V3xx is clearly the better phone in my opinion as well.

1. It has a 2.2" QVGA (240x320) display wheras the KRZR has but a 2.0" 176x220 display.
2. 3G internals (UMTS/HSDPA).
3. Updated and much faster UI.
4. You can use the side buttons to play MP3's.
5. Excellent reception...

I could go on

Personally the 'only' reason I wouldn't go with V3xx is if you are concerned over battery life in a 3G area.
Having 3G with all the above 'extras' is a good thing, and its not any more expensive to purchase.

Both WCDMA (3G) and GSM will try to move you into a codec that's at half rate, if the array is in trouble with the number of calls it is handling.

I have an almost equal number of friends, either way, who swear that CDMA or GSM is better voice quality.

My Krzr is forced to GSM full rate, and it seems excellent, generally passing the voice quality of your typical Alltel, Verizon, or Sprint CDMA call.

IMHO.

I think better is in the eye of the beholder. But the V3xx screen is great, and the phone's definitely priced very nicely.

It is also one of only *two* devices that Cingular sells that will handle the upgraded 3.6 mbps serivce. If you're into using data on a phone, that is.

If you're into tethering, then you can tether your V3xx for just $19.99/month, unlimited, if you know what questions to ask.

However...if you're like me and prefer a laptop to a PDA or phone, and you have connectivity everywhere you go, then you might find (like me) that the Krzr is just a neater, finer device for people who primarily just use their phones for voice calls and texting.

For what I do, I like the Krzr better.
