so i went from the 8525 to the treo 750 and i cant seem to get the internet to work. i am fairly familiar with the setting and how to use the internet on my ppc but i am not sure if i am doing something wrong on the treo. i have the media max bundle and i was using that perfectly fine on my 8525 but it seems to not be connecting on my treo. can this package be used on this phone?? i am going to setting-connections and changing the internet to media net.. what am i doing wrong.. could someone please guide me on what to do or help me!!! i would really appreciate it..thanks in advance

I recently bought a Treo 750 and I also have the media200 data plan and it works great. I didn't have to change any setting or anything I just plugged my sim card and it worked. Try doing a soft reset.

hard reset the treo if you just got it i dont think you have any data press teh end key down and stick teh stylus in the reset hole and when it asks you too press the up arrow do it.

do you think i wil get charged overages if i have it set on my isp??? i understand you said you did not change any setting but can you walk me through your setting on the connection tab to make sure mine match.. thanks

Go to Start->Setting->Connections->Connections->
Manage existing connections-> Under the modem tab it should say media net, hit the edit but when you have media net selected
Fill in the following:
Connection Name:Media Net
Select a modem:Cellular Line (GPRS,3G)->Hit next
Access Point Name:wap.cingular->Hit next
User Name:wap@cingulargprs.com
password:?
domain:
Hit finish

That should get you all set up. The only thing i'm not sure about is the password, hints the question mark I left. Hope that helps.

No, you won't get charged.
"My ISP" = wap.cingular (pure, no proxy)
"Media Net" = wap.cingular + wireless.cingular.com proxy

And before anyone asks "are you sure," the answer is yes. Just go look at the modem settings in the profiles yourself and you'll see.

But both SHOULD work. Always just use "My ISP." Even if you want to visit http://device.home/ (Cingular medianet site) you don't have to change to the 'media net' setting like you normally would on the 8525. On the Treo 750, IE has the proxy coded in to it in the registry. I understand the new WM6 ROM for the 8525 has this as well as does the Blackjack I believe.
So while using "My ISP" nothing is using the proxy except for IE which is doing it all on it's own.

You can disable this proxy in IE if you want with a simple registry change:
http://www.gadgetech.info/treo/hacks/disableproxy/

Note, the built in "My ISP" profile is NOT using isp.cingular access point.
If you want to use isp.cingular you have to create a new custom 'modem' and/or connection profile. But with the media max plan you can't use the isp.cingular APN, and if you can you'll be charged.
