slvr L7 sd card formatting

Hi. I've been searching all day for the answer to this. I have a new 2G micro sd card and I just want the phone to read audiobooks (mp3s) for me from it. I run into a problem of having the sd card failing to format when I put it in the phone, but the card is a good and working FAT format when it's on my computer. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this simple problem?
