Check it out on engadget mobile, there's a nationwide outage, so if you're wondering that's why

Was also reported on NBC News,

Seems like a major North American failure

Posted by: hookem12387

Ah it's horrible!

Posted by: Moderator HF 7

I'm with Rogers Wireless in Canada and using BIS with my personal BlackBerry and I am receiving email on it right now. Gotta hate having BlackBerry withdrawal syndrome though. I always get that when their is a BlackBerry outage.

Posted by: DubDub

Looks like it is still down this morning. At least it is here in NH.

Posted by: AceZ28

yeap im in TN and its still out here. This sux

Posted by: Scott403540

Still out here in Chicago. Oh the humanity!

Posted by: mark0341

Northern Michigan Still OUT.

Posted by: Drug$toreCowboy

In Brampton, Ontario I have BIS service...

Posted by: mebiuspower

No problem here connected to Rogers running on BES.

Posted by: MuddyWheels

Report on the news just a few minutes ago that the BB service is coming back online and that if you are having trouble shut your device off then power back up and see if that connects. That method works at least for Telus customers but may work for others as well.

Posted by: okpim625

Out in Florida....

Posted by: mas90guru

Out here in Glastonbury CT - no connectivity to BES or Browser since last night.

Nothing here in Phila, PA land. Device shows 1xev but no BIS or internet service on Verizon.

Posted by: MuddyWheels

This outage will lead to quite a backup of messages. Wonder if they'll dump them before bringing things back up fully.

This was just posted on CNET news about 10 minutes ago...

TalkBack E-mail Print del.icio.us Digg this
update A widespread system failure of Research In Motion's network has left BlackBerry users in the Western Hemisphere without e-mail on their handheld devices.

The problem, first reported on news site WNBC.com, is believed to have originated around 8 p.m. Eastern time Tuesday and has not yet been solved. Because the problem concerns the RIM BlackBerry network, all cellular carriers that support BlackBerry are affected.

On the BlackberryForums.com discussion site, some people also indicated that they could not browse the Internet.

RIM has acknowledged the problem through a recorded message that plays when calls are placed to the BlackBerry customer service hotline. The message states that the company is "currently experiencing a service interruption that is causing delays in sending or receiving messages." No updates have been provided, and no time frame has been given for resolving the problem. However, the automated message assured callers that they would be kept in the loop.

Attempts to reach press representatives at Waterloo, Ontario-based RIM have been unsuccessful

I've been having withdrawals since late last night when mine went down. It's quite sad how addicted I am to this thing...I feel like a little part of me is missing ...

I hope she's back online soon...

Now here comes the flood of e-mails!

Posted by: okpim625

For me everything came back to normal about half an hour ago.

Posted by: floz23

Don't be fooled, its 10:23am EST here, and even though I got a burst of email a few times, its hardly back to normal.

Posted by: frankie5string

Got a bunch of emails around 10am... and it's back down again for me in North York, Ontario Canada.

Posted by: DubDub

Nashua, NH

Got 2 email from late last night about 9:40 AM.

By 10:30 AM everything seems to be working as advertised.

Cingular, BIS

Posted by: Mandizzle

In Toronto... internet works but no emails.. and for some reason every contact on my BBM list was changed to the same name.

Posted by: audit

There's a mail list setup at http://www.c2security.org/mailman/listinfo/bb-outage to notify people of this.

BB-Outage is a mail list for people to notify others if RIM's service is down in a particular area. if RIM is down in China, US, A particular state, city, etc, for people then post the area to the list so others are notified. It's probably best to subscribe from an address that's not associated with your Blackberry since if RIM's service is down, you won't get the e-mail anyhow

Posted by: thasheik

Still having problems downtown Toronto as well.

Posted by: danntsea

Seattle, WA - everything appears to be working as of about 40 minutes ago.

Posted by: whsbuss

Things S-L-O-W-L-Y returning to normal for Verizon in Philly. Emails are delayed.

Posted by: grip75

Only sporadic email service from Cingular here in SD. I had small 'edge' on my phone until i rebooted it.

Still messages in our queue on BES but some users have got their mail.

Oh, and blackberryforums.com is being HAMMERED right now dur to being mentioned in that article....

Thank you,

Dr. Obvious

Download a program to cut and paste? You need to get the owners manual out dawg..it's called hold the stylus and cut and paste...Exactly..next month..I have a Wiza200 that was made 2 years ago that has it built in..Palm had a idea for it with WiFi SD cards...at least they tried...To be a business oriented phone..they blow ***..hands down..My personal opinion..The Treo's were better phones running Palm OS..I agree..certain apps on Windows tend to hang, and crash...But that's with any os period phone or no phone...Even desktops, and laptops will crash... Man you must have spent alot of money on your BB to be this upset...Poor guy...I feel for ya....*group hug man*

Please dont post rants against berrys in the blackberry forum, the crackberry addicts will eat you alive.

But yea windows mobile phones are garbage. Sux trying to compose an MMS on the fly(hence using the stylus) any berry is meant for one handed not two handed use. Phones with a touch screen create some type of lag in the OS period.

i only paid 50 lol best deal i've ever gotten especially for the best phone i've ever owned. god i hate people that come in here and ***** about how blackberrys suck, if you dont like them then dont use them!!! i dont care to take time to read how much you like to ***** about how you hate them, you may be entitled to your opinions about how you dont like them but we are entitled to ours on how we do...that might be why there's a blackberry forum and a windows mobile forum.

For what BB does, it does well.. In regards to my bb.. The last time I rebooted was 6 months ago. I didn't even need to reboot for this outage.. When I had a treo, rebooting once a week was the norm. And, umm.. Which RIM BB uses Windows OS?

Posted by: Skuzz

Everything working fine in south michigan, I never even noticed the outage as my SIM was in one of those crashing WM phones. (Talk about features, it has this great voice announce that will tell you what your messages are when they come in, problem is the phone lags so bad you'll get the voice announcement randomly and then 2 minutes later the actual mail alert noise plays.)

Best thing about the outage though, even with no BIS/BES, a BB still works as a great phone. Can't say the same with the cheap chinese HTC crap.

There is no Blackberry running WM. Period. Which is for the best!
