Removing battery cover for 8800, what a pain!

Anyone else finding this to be a royal pain in the hump?

I've owned enough Blackberry's to understand that it's sometimes a bugger to get these things off, but the 8800 is by far the worst of the lot.

If I presss any harder on the battery cover release button, I might end up breaking the damn thing.

Anyone have any suggestions that might help? It's not rocket science, but maybe I've got a unit that is defective as not matter what I do, I can't get the cover off and it's driving me nuts......

Thanks,

The trick to remove the battery cover on the 8800 is too use your thumb on your left hand and press down the little chrome square where it say MICRO SD, then use your thumb from your right hand and slip the cover down.

I've tried that all morning, even had 3 co-workers here give it a go as I thought I was nuts and even they couldn't get it off.

I just came back from a Rogers store...and guess what, 2 people there couldn't get it off either.

Just when I thought my 3 week ordeal with getting my 8800 order was resolved, I'm right back to square one.

At least golf season is starting....

I've had no problems using the instructions on the sticker which are identical to what's posted above...

You might find it easier if you clean the battery door and apply something like eGrips to it. Even cleaning finger grease alone will help.

Mine slides off smoothly with slight pressure on the mini sd logo, like someone mentioned above. I switch my sim out twice a day with no problems.

Better than with the Pearl where it comes off without even pushing the release button.

The battery door on my BlackBerry 8800 used to fit very tight and was extremely hard to remove. Now... not so much. (Which personally I don't mind as I sim swap often)

I had the same problem, until I learned the trick. If you press down hard on the chrome square, you push the metal clip into the battery and it acts as a brake. The harder you push, the harder it becomes to remove the cover.

Like you, I was going to take my BB 8800 back thinking it was defective. I swap phones a lot, so easy access to my SIM is important.

The trick is to put ZERO pressure on that chrome square. Stick your nail between the chrome square and the body of the BB and the cover flicks off.
