Boom. Edit: this is a photoshop render created after three different people verified that they got to handle the prototype.

M600 form factor + 3.2 MP (Dual LED Flash) autofocus camera + possibly new version of UIQ (based on Symbian OS V9.3) + possibly more RAM.

Wow...looks pretty damn hot.

Looks very interesting if it's thin and light enough.

Looking good. Hope it has WIFI this time around and a memory slot.

damn

oh well i'll enjoy my p990 for now

They should call it "M800" or "M900". It's basically a M600i plus wifi and 3G data. I couldn't care less about the camera. Phone cameras are useless.

Does it really have a MS duo or a M2.

I'm sure it's going to be M2.....I unlike you, welcome the camera....especially if it is as good as the K800i's camera.

As long as it's not as buggy as the M600i…

In any case I'll buy one as soon as they ship if the specs are real, especially if it's quadband (there is ZERO excuse for triband, Sony. Quit being slackers!)

the M600 was buggy? In what way? I like the M600i, and it works nicely.

Pretty much every person I've spoken to has had a nontrivial amount of problems, such as random crashes, total freezes, internet access going wonky, etc.

I love the idea of the M600 though, so something along those lines with HSDPA and/or WiFi with a camera will make me get one.

If it has 3G then more than likely no 850MHz for us stateside.

Then again, quad band GSM / tri band UMTS would be neat.

Yeah, which means I have to keep a second phone for whenever I go to the US. Yay for the inability of this retarded world to establish some actual sodding standards

why cant SE make this phone with GSM 850. D4Mn1T!. i really want this!

Posted by: Gok

because 850 are not widely used. Also in parts where it is used, people tend to spend less money on phones than peeps over Euro.

Posted by: tkao2025

Wow...............I'm in... It looks so nice. I want one now. Always been a big fan of M600i, but just wish they made the phone faster.

you do have a point. But there are a few people in the USA/Other areas that use 850 that will spend money on an unlocked phone. Also people in Euro could come over here for vacation and they might need 850 in areas that do not have 1900.

I couldnt see that adding quad would be that more expensive than tri.

but whatever. im happy with my s60, even though i want to try UIQ REALLY BAD, especially with THIS keyboard (i like suretype for some reason).

yes, I know most people on this forum wont mind paying a nice chunk of money for a nice phone, but as you pointed out, we are the few. Companies want to make phones for mass market, and specially for smaller ones like SE (compared to Nokia, Moto, Samsung). Im sure SE will get around to making 850 phones, as said by the company, this will be the year they come around.

Posted by: mobilezen

now it won't matter if the phone is released or not. no 850 no care

Too true. I know that people say to wait, but this is getting to be a tad frustrating...

Don't know if that's true, but Nokia have finally smartened up and released a lot more phones with 850 band. How much could it possibly cost to put one more band in a phone? I don't know but I'm guessing not a lot. As your point is that 850 is not widely used, but my argument is that even so it's not a bother for a European or Asian user to have 850band.

Look at Nokia....3/4 of their business phones are quad band and even the new N95 has 4 bands.....Maybe SE is just not interested in the NA market for business phones?

Posted by: Noeld

To say that Americans do not spend much on phones is a backwards statement considering the fact that most of the higher end phones are either not available here, or are available at 100% of the price, but will only provide 50% of the utility as in other regions. So of course we don't spend as much. Right now Cingular has 3g networks in place in all of their major markets. Basically the only qwerty devices that can access these networks are windows mobile. I have very little interest in using a windows mobile device, and obviously I am not alone. Walk down the street in New York or Chicago or any major city and look at the huge numbers of blackberries and treos and the like and then tell me that a device like the p700 (which would probably be similarly priced as the iphone) with 850 and 1900 umts would not sell like hotcakes.

Not true. When Z750 and W580 were reveald not long ago, they stated more focus will be placed on the NA market this year. While not every new SE phone will be suited for NA, there will be more than has been annoounced until today, so stay tuned and you may get suprised.

The fact is the new Ericsson U360 chip is quadband GSM EDGE and triband HSDPA. SE has the chip and still chooses not to use it in their smartphones. If they put it in a $300 phone why not put it in a $600-$700 phone. The added cost of the chip would be more than offset by the increased profit margin. Perhaps it is something about UIQ 3 that is not optimized for this chip yet, or perhaps SE really does not care about the North American smartphone market and have decided to cede it to Microsoft and RIM. Those are the most logical conclusions one can draw from these decisions.

Most SE phones released the first half of this year were probably designed prior the new EMP chip was released (think it was released Q3 or Q4 lats year) and hence does not use it. SE phones based on the new chip seem to be released later this year (like Q4).

on tmobile, no 850, who cares? i do! i am stoked for this phone! was gonna go n95, too buggy. e61i, but the cam sucked and too big. this looks like a great upgrade to my k800i.

Question is when......to be honest, the N95 was not as buggy as the P990i when it first came out. Also I have the E61i and the camera is surprisingly good for no auto focus, but yeah I hear ya. If this phone has the features and a faster processor than the M600i, I'm gonna get it even if there's no 850 band.

Slvr L7 is a $130 motorola phone that has quadband. Sony is just suck at making quadband phones. BTW even if you are on T-Mo USA you still can roam on 850 band if your phone support it.

I live in New York so I can live without the 850 band. However without edge this phone is quite unusable in the U.S.

Yeah, but I'll still get one
