Palringo was opened up for Beta today. It's a very cool messaging app that lets you talk to individuals or to entire groups. It also lets you send photos and voice messages...acting as a push-to-talk phone.

Even better...you can use it or you PocketPC, Smartphone AND PC.

There is alot of future functionality planned. I dont work for Palringo...so I wont talk on rumors...but it is made by the maker of Cell-Track.

You can make your own groups...but there is also currently a MoDaCo.com Smartphone/PPC group. Just add 'modaco' when adding a group.

I'm looking forward to the future functionality. (I love new software!)

They give little info about it? Is it Jabber based, proprietary, multi-headed like Agile and IM+? SOME details would be nice.

Not just another IMO.
Currently just IM chat, individual and group
plus photo and voice transfer.

Future....
Location Aware? Location Broadcasting?
Integrated with other IM serices?

I'm just saying if you're not interested now...keep an eye on it in the near future.

Totally Proprietary as far as I know.
I agree...their website should cough up a bit more info.
But it IS still in beta...so maybe some stuff is up in the air.

I've got a bunch of Modaco friends on there...so it works really well for me at home, work and on my phone (Blackjack).

Also...

I dont sell the app. I'm just mentioning it because I like it. If you'd like me to do ALL of the investigating for you...I'll need to charge you. Otherwise, feel free to try it yourself or contact the developer with your questions.

I am a beta tester and have some invites if any one wants to try it, I cannot get it to work but I know lots of beta tester who love it

reason for it not working My provider does not provide data on pay as you go, if they could get it to work over WAP then I would be rocking

Hello i have a htc touch through tmobile and it only connects to palringo when im connected to my pc up through active sync. Does anyone know what i can do so that it stays connected without being hooked up to my computer? thanks alot
